what about HTSH then?~!

By the way, not sure if thats right what you said about the coil location on the Oz models, as mine has it located on the inside of the N/S wing, like UK models.

i agree with classic kev v8s can swim , use good /new leads best you can afford,
a bit off attention to cover coil and carry wd40 just in case,
i wouldnt cover dizzy full time or only lightly so can still breath

Cheers for all the advice from everyone above or below that adds.

I don’t really know about these things but one thing i have found out is... if whatever it is your protecting is sealed, if something’s does get in, can you get it out if it doesn’t have a breather....i.e. seal ya coil, you still need to check it after a run out. sorry if thats obvious

in order to make mine a scuba diver i painstakingly rebuilt the distributor, and as i was putting it back together applied sealant to everything i could, particularly the drain holes in the bottom, the grommets and fittings, and the vacuum advance unit and ignition amp.

the dizzy cap was then drilled to accept two 1/4bsp 6mm push in fittings, with one pipe running to the snorkel, and the other to the inlet mani.this now constantly draws fresh air into the dizzy and evacuates any moisture. we also designed a 2ltr coke bottle dizzy shield, which works very well to keep the jetwash effect at bay. electric fans are also fitted btw.

with a quality set of leads and new plugs, with the leads greased and cable tied at both ends, it now refuses to misfire, even after a heavy run in deep water.

the first time it worked we were wading through just over the bonnet, then hit a hole which ducked us down deeper and sent water up over the roof, which then came to rest just at the bottom of the screen :D

she scrambled about for grip for a while (seemed like ages) and then she began to drag us out, which she did, still firing on 8.

the engine was sweet, i was overjoyed (hours and hours of ****ing about sealing and trying things had finally worked)

needless to say the onlooking diesel owners appeared suprised!

it can be done :D

How much more electrics does a 3.5 classic or a V8 defender has from a diesel defender of any age? I am not saying taking my RR supercharged in the deep.
