Can I suggest that further detailed discussions on this topic are done via pm, the reason being that anyone could be reading this fred and if someone is getting a perverse kick out of taunting Martyn, or if indeed, he's closing in; they could use info gleaned from here to help them stay one step ahead!
I'm all for helping find her, but keeping what you know from the thieves is important! ;)
Thanks, I think PM's are the way forward. I have received lots more information over the last few days and I feel I am getting closer to finding my Landy. When you look at how many visitors are looking at the Forum it is worrying. Most people are probably really nice folk just looking, but I have reason to believe that this thread is bieng watched by less than decent people too.
If anyone reading this knows anything about the scum who stole my Landy theft then I want you to know that I wont give up looking. I have a few people physically helping me out as well as all the fantastic people on here searching auto trader, e bay and just about anywhere else they see a Landy that moves!
If I do get any money from the insurance battle I STILL WONT STOP LOOKING !
be warned - God help you when I find you !!!!!!!
If anyone wants to contact me with information PM's please.
Martyn

and those reasons are ?

this is quite a busy forum, do you really think that whoever stole your landy is wasting their time sat behind a keyboard sniggering at the content of this thread when they could be out stealing the landies of those people who are actually creating the content of this thread

Just to update the situation, still following up information received, Could be getting closer by the second!!

they cant find Madeleine McCann after all the millions spent in publicity so what do you think the chances of finding an old land rover ? the amount of land rovers stolen over the last few years i would be supprised if more than a dozen have turned up there for it would be safe to say the people behind the majority of the thefts are very well organised and wont be selling them or the parts in the uk. its more likley they are going to pakistan or some other **** hole of a country where they can be sold as compleat vehicles or as parts.

sorry but the chances of getting it back are slimmer than a skeleton in a weight watchers class.

I agree peeps are unlikely to see there landies again once stolen but I doubt very much that many of them see distant shores they are far more likely to be found adorning the hundreds of thousands of landies been driven round this sceptred isle. If you want to be 100% certain there are no stolen parts on you're landy. remove anything you've bought 2nd hand and scrap it and buy new. otherwise chances are you're aiding and abetting Landy thefts.

when a bought my landy it was second hand ,all of it !! what do i do now ????

worried from newcastle !!:D

Seems an incredibly daft thing to do to risk being seen dumping stuff that connects them to the theft of the vehicle no? surely there'd be safer ways of disposing of the personal belongings like throwing them in a bin. Sounds like a younger mentality, maybe they were panicing a bit?

? better to dump ANYTHING that if pulled over could prove difficult to explain to the coppers. it is more likley to have had number plates off a legit vehicle fitted ensuring in the highly unlikley event of being pulled over by the cops it would be an above board vehicle and not arouse suspicion.

changing the plates shouldnt take more than a few mins along with removing the tax disc and replacing with tax/plates from a legal vehicle.

take a drive round in the early hours of the morning in your land rover and youll see just how easy it is to get around without seeing so much as a cop car on the roads. you will also be supprised after all the thefts of land rovers even if you do see the cops they will not bother to pull you over.

On the subject of dodgy landrovers.

Landrover 90 200 TDI on eBay, also, Land Rover Range Rover, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 03-Apr-09 20:54:23 BST)

I asked him about the tax exemption status. Seeing as it wasn't built until at least 11years after the tax exempt status cut off date. This is his reply.

The landy has been registered on an ex mod v5 on a 1979 plate but declared manufactured 1970. There was a plate welded to the chassis matching the chassis number but this was removed by the previous owner. I am confused by all of this my self but the vehicle has been like this for many years. I have old mots for the last 8 years or so. This seems to be a bit of a grey area. I am aware that this is going to greatly affect the price of the landy but I will leave that to the discernment of any potential buyers.

lol.. well by the looks of it, that vehicle was manufactured after 1990 (judging by the 'defender' badge on the front of it hehe!)..

Just an update to all the really kind and helpfull poeple who have been following this thread, cant say too much BUT I will say the person who stole my Landy now KNOWS I am on to him. He's not fooling anyone, this is giving me no pleasure at all because at the moment I don't have my Landy back, However, chances are things are looking up. Thanks to everyone for your kindness and interest in my Landy. Who knows what the next few weeks will bring? As before any information that could help would be greatly appreciated and appropriately rewarded.
I think this person now knows how I feel, not be able to sleep at night.
