I wouldn't use a torque wrench for removing squat...

You do need to put your back into it, if you look at the torque they want you to tighten them to you will see they didn't want them to come off!

ffs ah noo what he meant, if yer read his post you'd see he clearly states

'should the extra leverage from that help me'
ah mean how else do you think he's gonna get extra leverage from his talk wrench?
maybe not the best way to treat yer talk wrench but most of us have done it

if you have a decent trolly jack you can use the handle orf that, me jack handle is about 4ft long and will undo nuts that are tighten up to 200lbs/ft.
mind you what ever you use to connect yer jack handle to yer socket has to be up to it arnorl and dint be using them little buggers neither, get some 1/2" drive buggas.

there's a bit of pipe in the she'd which I should be able to slot over. Can't wait to get the bloody thing off now!

ive got an old britool 1/2 inch ratchet tha was ****ed, so i got me mate ter fill it with weld, i pop a 3 foot scaffold tube over the end of it and it shift owt. i keep it in me drawer fer speshul home made tools ;)

Waste nothing eh yella? I had an old 24" breaker bar that I'd snapped the head clean off. I ground the broken head down to make a pry bar out of it.

I snapped the knuckle on a 2' Snap on breaker bar that I'd borrowed. I offered to replace the knuckle but the guy I'd borrowed it off threw a strop because I wouldn't buy him a completely new bar, and chucked the bar across the garage. then stomped off and never spoke to me again. I retrieved the bar and brought a new knuckle for £10 and I've still got it now.

Evening,

Well there's good news and there's bad news.

Good news, everything is stripped down, just got one cylinder left to hone out and all is going well. Should be on track to have everything finished by the weekend (no time tomorrow or Thurs)

Bad news, each and every one of my 4 pistons is cracked ffs! I guess that this is as a result of my extreme case of overheating a few months back. The cylinder block is fine, and there are a few hair line cracks on the head (but sod replacing that for the sake of a few little miniscule cracks). 4 new standard pistons ordered which should be here tomorrow.

The job will be a good one, and I'm looking forwards to getting my nice (almost) brand new engine running again.

Just out of interest - the new pistons that I've ordered come with rings. They will come with the con rod and end cap as well wont they?

Cheers
-Pos
