Hi everyone,

After successfully using biodiesel in various diesel vehicles, I am takign the plunge and putting in a 50:50 mix of bio to derv tomorrow. I am interested to see who else is using bio in their td6. There are multiple BMW 330d drivers using it with zero problems.
I must stress that the bio is of excellent quality.

I though these modern engines are really fussy on fuel
Hopefully it won't be any expensive fix for you lol
 
I love it Saint v8. No problems touch wood! Although rear parking sensors are a bit mad at the moment, strangely they work fine in the rain- don't think they are dirty though!

If it's properly refined Bio diesel as opposed to straight veggie oil then it should not be a problem. If the lye that's used to remove the glycerides is effective and the result is non corrosive it should be no different to the mass produced stuff that's running common rail diesels in buses over here.:)
 
Yer, went for the diesel. I have my own bio kit, so it made sense.
I will let you all know how I get on. BTW, hippo what mpg do you get?

Although the gm boxes are weak I still prefer diesel engines
And the roar they make when you put your foot down ;) lol

I get 22MPG chipped

What's your mpg showing at the moment then ?

I reset every tankful. The worst I have got is 22.7 mpg, and the best 28.5 mpg. Not bad for the size of the thing!
Running 50% bio will mean the equivalent of 45/49 mpg! I agreed datasharp, there is so much paranoia about biodiesel. The reality is that most small forecourts selling regular diesel have loads of water, grime, grit and rust in their ancient tanks!
 
No change in performance, and less sooty smoke under hard acceleration. I'll change the fuel filter in a couple of weeks as the first time it is used, it will clean the fuel tank and lines which will deposit in the filter.

I quite agree datasharp, straight veg oil would just knacker the injection pump due to the viscosity. But proper bio is as good as derv IMHO.
Only problem is that waste oil is turning from a waste produce that restaurants used to pay to dispose of, into a commodity. I now have to pay £5 per 20 litre drum of old oil. Not a lot I know, but it is only used chip fat!

Check to see if the paint is bubbling on the parking sensors. The aluminium head on the sensor corrodes and distorts the signal. I'm guessing it leaves an air space in the corrosion that gets filled when the air is damp.

If so scrape it off, sand the head and see if it has gone away, then touch up with grey primer and touch up paint.
