Reet then. Changing disks and bearing on me Rangie. Removed calipers OK, retracted drive shaft, flattened out locking washer and put box spanner on nut. WTF, 6mm hole to stick summat in to turn it!!?? What are you supposed to stick through that hole that will undo the nuts without snapping...

    RRC Body Panels

Haven't got my RAVE disk to hand, but roughly speaking, what is the procedure for removing the rear body panels on an RRC, specifically to check for tinworm around the inner arches. Any special tools/adhesives/fasteners required? TIA

Cleaning AFM and other Bank Holiday activities

Reet, so the K&N on me Rangey was caked up wi shoite and seriously needed cleaning. After trying every possible outlet to get the proper cleaning stuff I went in desperation to Minispares (North) as I went past on me way to the tip. They had the stuff and it were half the price that Demonchavs...

    Another brake query

OK, looking at the RAVE destructions, the 5 bolts that hold the disk to the hub need to come off. What size bolt are they and what fookin head is that on the diagram? Do I need a special tool, and if so can I borrow one - will reward handsomely...

    Rear disk and pad query

How easy/difficult is it to change the rear disks and pads on a Disco I. Read through the RAVE destructions, and do I really need to completely dismantle the hub prior to removing the disk? Also, is this an evening job or one to be left to the weekend?

    Y reg 4.6HSE

Hmmm, mint condition Y reg 2001 HSE, 30k miles, been garaged for 3 years due to owners ill health, now wants rid. A grand for cash. Should I do it, or is having 2 Rangies and a Deepender a bit much :D

    P38 Wheels and tyres

If anyone is interested, I'll be putting an advert in classifieds later (when I've taken pics) of a set of 4 Vogue 3/6 spoke 18" Alloys with almost new Pirelli Scorpion ST tyres. One wheel has slight kerb scuff, but they come complete with locking nuts. Highest offer wins.

    Kickdown adjustment

I'm being lazy here (can't be bothered to look for me RAVE disk), but how do you adjust the kickdown on the ZF auto box on a V8? Previous owner has tightened it up so it's like it's permanently in sports mode. Drinking fuel like billio, only changes up at 3000rpm and tap the throttle forces...

    LPG - First Impressions

Well I collected me soft dash RRC LPG machine on Friday, and first impression is it is very sound mechanically apart from a couple of minor things, stearing damper is on it's way out, and the advisory notice from the MOT about the brakes, well, very lenient - I've had failures for brakes in far...

    Disco buying advice

OK, off to look at an R plate Disco ES with average mileage (90odd k). I know to check the chassis rails, check boot floor and footwells don'e resemble a seive, check inner wings actually are still there and rear seatbelt anchors. Question is, where exactly do I check the seatbelt mounts...

    Seen a nice Disco

Well 2 actually, both over Manchester way. Both 98MY, both silver, both 3.9 with LPG conversions. R reg one is 84k miles and a packet of fags short of £3k. P reg is an ES with the trimmings, 110k miles an 2 pints of Tetleys short of £2.5k Might go and take a peek at them - more expensive...

    200 TDi fan cowl

Right then, how are you supposed to remove said item? Undid 2 small nuts, intercooler and top hose jamming it in. Removed those and still the fookin bastid thing won't slip over the fan. Managed to get to alternator and tighten belt up after skinning 6 knuckles and dropping 1/2" drive on me...

    Things are moving on nicely...

OK, so after me front wheel bearing collapsed a couple of miles from work yesterday morning, I've found a really nice friendly garage, know what they're on about and don't cost the earth (also spitting distance from my desk at the office). 70 knicker fer noo wheel bearings and a good poke...

OK, new filters, engine oil change etc done today. Didn't get the ****part ones in the end, got set of three filters and new belts from Andrew Page's (Mann filters). Last week ran a tank of Wynn's injector cleaner through it, and did the Wynn's engine flush before changing oil today, all new...

nearly got totaled - strange things now happening

OK, a serious post fer a change (200 TDi before you ask) ;) Drivin up the M1 from Wakey this evening, steady 60 on inside lane (heavy traffic) wasn't really watching the tarmac and I heard and felt a really nasty clunk/bang and veered into the middle lane. Recovered direction and thought it...

    Got me electrickery sorted

7m of wiring later and all me lights are now working. Why oh why don't they fit a logical wiring loom in at the factory instead of the rats nest with built in short circuits all over the place if one component fails :( Anyway, Hen party down at the Arms this evening, followed by adult...

    P38 coolant leak

Got to look over a mates 2000MY 4.0 P38 tomorrow night as it developed a coolant leak near the bulkhead (viewing drips on ground). Just a steady drip-drip, but when driving it loses it quicker and you have to stop to top it up after about 40 minutes. Half 10 at night an it's a bit dark, but I...

Some pics for Mr Grunt (Sliders)

OK, I've fitted me sliders an me noo set of Machos in silver wheeley thingies. Couple of pics of before and after so you can see what they're like. Where they're attached to the b/head main bolt, a pice of 5x80mm strip steel is welded on and shaved 6mm off the top for clearance. Then using...
