Winch Shear Pins?

Do winches have shear pins? My 12000lb eletric winch stoped working yestersay morning when it was masivly loaded. The cable went slack, the motor still turns but doesent turn the gear box, it acts as if its in neutral. Is it possible ive sheared a shear pin?

We had two landys stuck, and had to get rescued by a Unimog in the end.:doh:

Ear Woods, Your landy passed its MOT the other day did it not? If so i thought you fan was a bit fooking lethal

No. It sounds like you have damaged the clutch/freewheel mechanism. Time for a warranty claim if it is still under a year old or strip and repplace the failed part.

Yea, it did. I dont understand the second part...:confused:


Thanks Ratty, its under a year old and i will try to claim it first, clean it up all nice. :D It looks striat foward to dismantel if not, i need a new cable also so will have to do some parts orders.

I was the kid in the workshop :), I spoke to you outside ;) And when we managed to open your bonnet the fan had no guard or anything on it

Small world! Hi then...should have said somthing about LZ when i was there. Sorry about the fan, your right its abit scary, probaly doesent do much eather as its about a foot from the radiator. Was hoping to put an eletric one on it off the Jag, but that has fallen victim to the tree.
 
I do indeed, made mincemeat of it all. All i have to do is clean his rope for him. When i first asked him for a tow he was gonna bring his v8 series one before i told him it would even touch it. Great to have mates like him...cheers graham!
