off to Blackpool tomorrow, so decided this evening it would be a good idea to check the landy over.

Soooo.
Despite the Rear diff seeping round the pan (bolt on salisbury) the T/B leaking form somwhere, the front diff leaking round the input bearing, the engine leaking. non of the fluids needed topping up, the engine has needed mebbe 1/2 a pint in the last 12Mths/6K.

Now considering its dues its yearly fluid change, being checked every 3 months, its never needed topping up

I figure it must be making it own...

A little bit of oil spreads along way, easyest way to track it all down it to,

Steam clean everything and cover it in talcon powder ( if that's how you spell it) and go for a drive, it stops the oil tracking around so you can see the source,

My front diff is covered in oil but its coming from the filter

My TB is like that, looked like loads had leaked out but when I topped it up it took less than 100ml. The talcum powder is a good idea I'll have to try that and find out where it's coming from.

I like the idea too, might have to borrow me a steam cleaner and give it a go, the engine is the worst culprit.
Think the TB is round the cover plate, so might do that when I change the oil in a couple of weeks (think I have a gasket for it, previous owner had it on his "to do" list)

if you head through any water or wet mud, where the oil gets out there is a chance the water gets in so diluting the oil in the diffs, and the gearbox oil can seep through to the tranny too, maybe the engine oil is a little diesel contamination, but yeah its a miracle for sure- i always seem to take more out than i put in when i do a fluids change????????????
