current tyres were simex 35/10.50/16
just bought some silverstone extrem 35/11.50/15

look at the piccy the simex were about half worn and measured 34.5 inches tall
the silverstone are only 33 and a bit inches tall

too say im ****ed off is an understatement that inch and a bit makes a difference under the diffs

how will i stand wiv the supplier tommorrow when i ring them?
i orderd a 35" tyre and that was what i was expecting if i wanted 33" i would have bought 33"

they dont even look ant wider either

Are you allowing for the fact that the vehicle is sitting on the new tyres so the rubber will be getting compressed?

Also even if your measurements are correct only HALF the tyre is underneath the diff. The other half is above it so you are only losing 0.75".

tried them side by side with neither on the vehicle and it was the same..

the point is there selling a tyre as 35" tall and it only measures a tad over 33"
any difference under the diff however small the increase is good i certainly didnt want to lower the clearance

what width rims are on your old and new ones? If you were on 7's and now 8's the lose in width wont "squeeze" the tyre up.

I know how you feel. many tyre manufacturers are like this. the sizes do not add up in real world terms. mate had 33x12.5 Kumo's but they measured 32x13.5! not quite what you expect ey :(

always see things in the flesh before parting with your £££

to be fair Lots of "33 inch" and "35 inch" tyres are not actually anywhere near what they say 35's are more like 33 and 33 are more like 31.5/32 inch in my experience

the line from the manufacturer is

that theese tyres are manufactured in taiwan and are made within certain tolerances, but as they are not d.o.t stamped they dont have to confirm within certain guidlines.

they are supposed to measure 34.1" from crown of tyre to crown of tyre
i could have bought a set of 4 simex for £800 but decided to go with the silverstone for £795 as i wanted a tad wider tyre to fill out the extended arches when i put them on.but it hasnt worked out atall.
in future i will stick with what i know.expensive lesson learned

Your Manufacturer is full of **** DOT codes are American and have no relationship to UK/EU (E mark) And anyway all a DOT code does is identify the date and place of manufacture.

they offerd me my money back but as ive sold my simex on the modulars i have no wheels/tyres to put back on.and if i buy some simex for £800 ive then gotta buy rims aswell.so looks like ive gotta put up wiv the silverstones

I would get my money back tbh mate if there not what you orderd , and have a ferret on ebay or something ( been looking at " spondon tyres " ) they do some nice pacages on there .
If you want ill give you the link for em ?
