Hey all, I know how much you lot like tyre questions....but I spent all last night searching and found a confusing mix of answers...plus every thread I read had someone telling people to do a search ffs,
My question is on my standard 90 which I got an unrepairable puncture, if I put a newer tyre on one corner with more tread, would I get transmition wind up? Someone on a green laning forum just made an interesting point about thats what a diff is for? Any thoughts guys?
:pop2:

you cant get wind up without locking diffs, with uneven tyre diameter you just get diff turning more ,which will be okay for sometime ,but 4 equal tyres is best

ah good stuff, just to make it really simple for me....if i have a slightly worn on the rear left and a brand new on the rear right and two fairly worn on the front i would be ok?
sorry!!!

for quite some time ,4 equal is best ,but diffs will take up the difference easily ,the thing a diff doesnt like is spinning as like one wheel stood still and the other spinning ,they will take it for a while but does reduce life

Yes but No, buy 4 new, why would you want fairly worn tyres on your motor

i thought it was quite funny when i searched tyres/wheels..... even the earliest replys had abuse for asking the question.....i wonder if the first ever person who asked the question got abuse....haha,

The differential will be very small and as james says you will not notice it at all. Just means the diff internal gears in the axle and transfer box will work slightly harder. If the difference in circumference is alot i.e several inches I'd worry about it IF driving it daily but having for example one tyre with 12mm and one with 6 mm isnt the end of the world.

coz with wor lass 10 weeks up the duff, imagine the response i would get if i told her i wanted to spend 800+ on a set of tyres on a toy she already thinks i should get rid of!!!

So you can man up and get her up the duff
So
man up and put you foot down and buy some tyres

Do you think I told the missis I spent £900 last week on the 90..... Did I fook :p

:amen:

I bought a new set of wheels and tyres and my missus didn't notice the 6 (yes, 6) old ones in the garage for 2 months - and even then, one of the kids pointed them out to her. Get them now cos once junior arrives, you aint gonna have no chance;)

haha i recon i could put my foot down to the tune of a couple o hundred, but 900.....not a foo kin chance, i gotta sell stuff before i can buy toys...joint bank accounts n all that means sneaky sneaky isnt as easy as it once was!
