Are the jacks known for being useless on a td5.Only if i hadnt been outside halfors id still be there now. With wheel neither on or off but un movable.I had to go in and buy a trolly jack to get me out of the ###t .It was just not upto the job wouldnt go high enough.Another lesson learnt and £60 down.

Well mine lifts mine up okay. Can't say it's operator failure, but it's either that or the wrong jack. No doubt Land Rover put the right jack in the car, but perhaps things have gone astray from then on. I believe they are all bottle jacks, sort of dark orange in colour. Possibly positioned wrongly, soft ground, or something?

Used mine a few times with no issues.

Seems strange. Either wrong jack or user error?!

Dave

Ps bought myself a 3tonne high lift trolley jack for Xmas (for DIY stuff), can now lift the car in about 4 seconds!!

A std TD5 jack works perfectly well for wheel changes. Where did you put it in your attempts to lift the vehicle?

ah, does this also render the wheel in a neither on or off state fascilitating the need for a major purchase of another jack (that has instructions) from Halfrauds :)

Indeed it does!

The only other way would be to read the instructions on the jacking handle bag or the large sticker on the jack itself  must also make sure you follow the instructions and close the valve so you can jack it up :p

I've used the one in my 300 a few times and never had a problem even though its at least 14 now

My bottle jack from my Disco is holding my R380 box up at the moment as I took the TF box out this morning. I also use it for jacking damage out. I found it very usefull for jacking the car up surprisingly. Maybe thats what it was fitted for
