110 defender,
3 front seats
3 middle seats
2 bench seats

potentially capable of carrying 12 people.

I have spent ALL day trying to find someone who would insure it......helppppp :(

land Rovers own Insurance people wont touch it because its more than 20 years old.

Am I the only one with a 12 seat 110 defender in the whole country ???
So have you tried getting quotes fora 100 county station wagon yet then?Has it made a difference?

It might be later than 1985 and actually a Defender. The "B" reg, might be a cherished number?
Does the V5 say 1985?
What engine has it got in it?
Has it got power steering?

the V5 says defender, the engine is 2.5 normally aspirated diesel, no power steering, but I bought the bits second hand from paddocks and got no idea where they all go lol. Funnily enough, was a pain to turn the steering until i fitted those new wider wheels. Wider wheels, more rubber in contact with the road and easier to turn, does not make sense.

2.5N/A almost certainly makes it a 110 not a defender. Has it got a 110 sticker on the bonnet or a Defender sticker.? Can't understand why your having trouble insuring it. Common as **** is 110 CSW's

well i was under the impression it was a 110 defender with 12 seats, maybe it will make a difference when i tell them its a 110 CSW with 12 seats, I doubt it but, the mention of 12 seats and sorry, dont do 12 seats, goodbye, had that 10 times today.

theres a guy near the kids school with a brand spanking newish silver defender, besides the obvious paintwork differences, and mine has these galvanised strips running down the sides half way up, i really could not tell the difference.

The sticker on your bonnet says LandRover 110,

The bonnet plaque on a defender says Defender.

They are cosmetically otherwise virtually identical (different engines in defenders but otherwise the same). Land rover just re-branded the 110 (and the 90) "defender" in 1990.

Yours is a 110 with 12 seats.

This fred is goin round and round.

it sez landrover 110 on the picture yer posted, ffs dunt mention the 12 seats unless they do, just tell em its a 110 station wagon, dunt even mention the county bit

thats wat I thought and how I insured it last year, but what happens on the rare occassion i do have 12 on board and get stopped ? also, the benches dont have seat belts, how will that go down with the old bill ?

not factory fitted not your problem-unless you crash it

ave yer tried Sureterm Direct or NFU Mutual - they understand Landys.

I agree these guys are good for getting yourself insured and out on the road, but in the unfortunate event that you need to deal with an accident they are awful.

They are the broker, they use Prestige/Westminster to insure you, if you need to get them to deal with a claim like I had to do you need to phone 3 places and report the accident, each wanting the same boring story and details. However Sureterm didn't tell me this at the time and only told me to phone my legal people (who were the most helpful people out of all of them).

So 2 weeks later when I had heard nothing, but done a lot of chasing by phone and letter I call them to find out how the fight was going, to which they replied “have you told your insurer?”

I told them I had expected that this would maybe what my £150 for admin fees went towards, like them maybe sending a letter or fax or making a call and telling them for me.

I called Prestige/Westminster and they didn’t even know who I was! After some more calls I managed to log the accident with them then to be told that Sureterm should have done this!

Once everyone knew and everything was as it should be I then asked them to fight the claim for me (the woman won’t admit liability) and keep me in the loop, that was nearly 2 weeks ago – and I have fixed the Landy anyway!

Anyway – I will stay with them and I will stick with them next year if my renewal drops again (when they offer you the renewal don’t accept the first one; they will take about another £50 off it) – and fingers crossed I will never need to use them for a claim again, but when it comes to it I am not overly impressed with the service I got.
