110 defender,
3 front seats
3 middle seats
2 bench seats

potentially capable of carrying 12 people.

I have spent ALL day trying to find someone who would insure it......helppppp :(

land Rovers own Insurance people wont touch it because its more than 20 years old.

Am I the only one with a 12 seat 110 defender in the whole country ???

Thats what the log book says, thats what the badge on the bonnet says, thats what it looks like :)

B reg so thats 1985 ?

How the heck do I get in insured without taking the rear benches out.

So far, the following wont even quote on it

adrian flux
swinton
lancaster
land rover (yes their own insurance company wont insure there own cars)

No will try NFU in the morning now, if another person asks if it is a minibus after I have told them its a 110 defender I shall ermmm bust a blood vessel lol

Strange:confused: It should just be the 110. Maybe somebody's messed about a bit with it. Got any pics? and wouldn't it be called a CSW?

the reason they are asking you if its a minibus is cos of the constrution and use regulations , 9 seats is the cut off point fer sensible insurance quotes .. and technicaly speakin 12 seats comes under psv regs .... its sort of a grey area.. you'll be lucky to find anyone to insure it at a sensible cost ...

my ex's dad has a 9 seater minibus for his disabled son and he pays around £1800 to insure it .... and he's about 900 years old too..

i'll give him a ring to ask wich insurance firm it is ....

Whats a CSW, I can get pics tomorrow, but its a defender, even tescos said so on the online quote I tried just now. Nowhere does it ask for the number of seats but. If I took this out, how would I stand legally ?

Thanks lrb2

So companies that dont ask how many seats it has, how do I stand with them ? Is the 3 front seats, 3 middle seats and two rear benches capable of carrying another 6 people a standard configuration ? I'm assuming it is, in which case they cant come back and say i'm not insured because I never said it had 12 seats.

its registered as a twelve seater so takin some out wont help .....

and the insurance company he uses is norwich union ..... but be warned it expensive and he aint no spring chicken ...

No, i'm saying they never asked how many seats it has, the registration document does not say how many seats it has, I dont know why. I have no intention of taking any out.

So if tescos are not asking how many seats, they cant come back and say that I never told them it has 12, if you get what I mean lol.

ahh i get ya ... ok ....
must be someone to insure it tho , ya see umm about so there must be someone...
