Help on p38 alarm

Not that I know of....

Just a Standard Manufacturers Alarm and Imobbiliser...

I don't think Thatchhem tested or Approved the P38 Alarm but is classed as Catergory 1 - Electronic Alarm and Immobiliser

The Thatcham Vehicle Security Categories
Category 1
Passenger Cars, LCV, HGV, Plant, Motorcycles
ELECTRONIC ALARM AND IMMOBILISER
• Alarm
Perimeter detection
Ignition detection
Passenger compartment movement detection
Inclination detection (Motorcycle only)
Audible warning with battery back-up power supply
• Immobiliser
Passively set
Isolates a minimum of two operating circuits or systems, or a minimum of one operationally relevant vehicle control unit with coded intervention

also on our insurance web site it comes up as Thatcham 1 , so not really sure my self . But thanks for your help
Looking at that list is is categorised as Thatcham Category 1 for the standard fit for the New Range Rover Jun 1995 to March 2002 - so Thatcham did indeed approve the P38 Alarm....never knew that..I always insured as Standard Manufaturers Fitment....wonder if I could claimmy money back for any over payments :D:D:D:D

I bet there is a market for some sort of chip set that could bypass the alarm and immobiliser for good in the BECM.

I'd pay handsomely not to have to worry about EKA numbers, and engine sync, and RF interference, and all the other 'security' features they have.

It can be disabled to a large extent with diagnostics.
 
It's the engine immobiliser sync thing too, and you can't disable that can you?

A box that "tricked" the engine ecu and BECM that all security measures were fine, would be handy I think. I'm crap at computers though, and worse at 1990's Z800 programming or whatever I'd need.

If it was too much for Storey Wilson, I don't stand a chance.

On the diesel, if you buy a new EDC it can be set to non secure mode eliminating the need for the handshake with the BECM.
