Hi, anybody have any ideas please?

2016 Discovery Sport, when I drive car locks no issues, park up, lock it alarm goes off. Had a new battery fitted, if I check the last alarm message - Volumetric sensor.

I can drive for 2 hours, park up and it will not trigger the alarm for an hour or so !

Sorry if it’s been asked before. Any advice is welcome, been ongoing since August !!

Hi

Know the feeling where they can drive u nuts , Volumetric sensor indeed points towards the internal area , sounds daft but have u checked all the windows , sunroof, doors are all fully closed

In the interim have u tried turning all the air vents off , etc , any cob webs by the Volumetric sensor.

Not familiar with the DS but on my D3 the Volumetric sensor module sits on in the headlining near the centre of the vehicle

What are the different circumstances plse with the alarm not going off or being triggered, ie, flat ground, HGV passing and therefore moving the vehicle ,etc

If u look in ur owners manual it should tell u how many presses on the key fob will deactivate the Volumetric sensor , maybe try that as if it still goes off that might point towards the bonnet, rear and side doors , fuel filling cap is another one

Do u happen to remember what the fault code was plse as that may also give us a direction to go on , indeed as mentioned can be frustrating but alway best to take it one step at a time as the worse thing to do is to start replacing parts

Apologises it’s a bit vague but sometimes it can just be trial and error in the beginning , also meant to ask when u got ur new battery fitted did they reset the BMS module ( AKA - battery monitoring system ) also was the new battery fully charged before fitment or has it been fully charged since as that’s also very important

Hope that helps

I know almost nothing about the D sport but there shoud be a simple trick to disable the volumetric alarm for example on the D2 it's disabed when the vehicle is locked with the key instead of fob, those sensors used to suffer from corrosion if it was moisture inside the vehicle then they erratically trigger the alarm or as mr @gstuart said any air movement in the vehicle would trigger it

scroll down to around the middle of page to "Volumetric sensors" where they say they are disabled if you single lock the vehicle: https://www.jlridssddmongoose.com/discovery-sport-lc-419-01a-anti-theft-active/

P.S. seems that it can be disabled through the IP menu too see attachment

Many thks as wondered if it could be done via the menu or fob

On mine if u double press the key fob it turns the interior off so handy if u have a dog etc inside

Funny enough on the D4 it’s the other way round for the number of presses

Plus when mine kept going off it had nothing to do with the volumetric but one of the bonnet sensors , just needed cleaning and adjustment

Thks again for the information as always so handy to know
