Pics in next post...

Sooooo, took a mate for an interview in Devizes yesterday and arranged to meet up with a fellow landie owner who was in the area for the day to go off road playing at lunch time. Went up this little track (just off the road) and my inexperienced passenger sh*t himself and screamed at me to stop, so I did. We were completely to right, nowhere near the low tracks to the left of the vehicle, but he's afraid of drop offs and thought we were going to roll, so screamed.

Unfortunately, without the momentum and some very loose dry top soil, as I reversed it out, passenger wheel slid down and went into the rut. The wall of the rut was like concrete and with one wheel now in the air, we weren't going anywhere. Had it in low box diff lock on and nothing. Our mate was behind us, I got the tow rope out the back and he had a phone call that he had an urgent meeting to get back to. It would have taken him less than two minutes to hook the rope on and reverse back to the road, but no.......he got in a panick and left! I suspect his boss didn't know he'd left the office.

So......I walked down the road, soon saw a young lad in an L200 and he kindly came up and gave us a little tow. So frustrating. About 3-4 inches he towed us and I had traction and flew out of there myself.

Anyone else have fun in the sun yesterday???

If I was you I'd find a new greenlaning partner. Only an absolutely selfish self centred ****er leaves you stuck on a lane and fooks off. Meeting or no Meeting the guys a prick..

And I always thought that if the passengers aren't screaming you're not trying hard enough..

You should have heard him when I got him to stand on the rear corner and bounce it while I tried to get traction.........nearly wet myself laughing!

Yeah......the guy we were with has been a great partner in the past, but after speaking on the phone last night he tried to justify it by saying he would have come back out after work.

Like I said to him.......4 hours in the sun with one 2ltr bottle of water between me, passenger and two puppies was not an option. He got ****y that I didn't just laugh it off, so I told him a few home home truths and asked him not bother calling me or the boyfriend any time he wanted to go out in future.

If we'd had the other two dogs with us......probably could have got them all to pull us out...lol.

Good on you!! :D

missing the point peeps...

you got rescued ny a slitty
you got rescued by a slitty
you got rescued by a slitty

:D

I know.........I could have waited for a freeloader to get me out (I quite like the new ones) but that would have been a tough pill to swallow and my boyfriend would have enjoyed that far too much...lol.
Actually, the guy with the Freelander went up there later with a friend to try and prove that they were better than discos????? He didn't even get up to the top of that tiny little bump....HAHAHAHAHA!

Still, the young lad that towed us laughed because he had got stuck in mud two days before and had to be towed by a disco.....all swings and roundabouts I guess...lol

LOL, nice one.

Can't believe someone would p1ss off when you're stuck. I wouldn't just want a new mate I'd make sure everyone knows about it so he has trouble getting anyone to go with in future.

so the guys a winker for leaving you flat , but enough about that , i wanna know what you think of them new tyres on your truck as i'm in the market for some new ones shortly ....:blabla:

At the moment LRMilfer, I think they're fab. Bought them on off the paddocks website and a set of four was £228 incl. delivery. Got them all fitted and balanced for £40 too so all in all not bad. Got to get another one for the spare, but using one of the old ones for now and saving money for holiday.

They are the Insa Turbo Traction Tracks and apart from the expected increase in noise and slight change in handling going from road tyres, they seem great. Have tested them out a few places and not had an issue yet. The guy sat in the pics said that it was just a matter of a few inches that I got towed out of that rut. He said I had traction and pulled myself out as the rope went slack before I had come up over the edge and considering the back wheel would have still been off the floor then, not too bad methinks!

was that up on roundway hill , hope your old pal needs help soon and you can then laff at him

Yep, indeed it was. Was heading for Salisbury, but the army were on exercise making loud noises! LOUD NOISES........I love lamp! (sorry if you don't know the movie, couldn't resist)
