the v8 is sounding like a bag of nails of late so with a mate who knows what hes doing i want to give it a good going over, replace gaskets, cams, chains etc aswell as new fluids. I wasnt planning on taking he entire engine out but what should i be looking at getting replaced on there?
I know little about engines btw  but im no retread

Yes i'm looking at doing that on my newly acquired 3.9, it looks disgusting in there.

Here's what I'm looking at: camshaft kit with cam, chain, gears, lifters and gaskets. Pushrods and rockers, rocker shafts.

You don't need to take the motor out unless you want to replace/grind/bore crankshaft, pistons, rings, camshaft bearings etc.

Doesn't look that expensive in UK, but where I live its all very expensive/hard to find. So I'm looking at importing the lot from famousfour.com or land-rover-parts-shop.com or someplace like that.

yes thats basically what i want to do, dont really want to think about what all the bits are going to cost:doh:

as fett has said plenty of cheap parts that dont last long either spend on good quality parts use only genunie dealer hydraulic followers and a good spec cam piper are what i recomend
