Got a D2 last week and my Freelander went in p/ex. I'll change my sig shortly. Stand by for air suspension queries and all those other faults familiar to you all.:) Be gentle with a Discovery newbie.

Hi Allan and congrats on your new purchase:

Just get ready for saggy back ends; oily red plugs; MAP/MAF/BAF (well I am from the north:D:D); The three Amigo's; wheel bearings at £150 a throw; etc etc

DII's are great vehicles, just keep ahead of their maintenance needs and you'll be fine.

Pro-active maintenance is the only way to enjoy a DII.

Cheers

Yep, welcome to the fold.

Great vehicles, just plenty to keep you busy.

As above, pre-empt repairs and spend lots of time underneath. Peel back steering knuckle ball joint boots and check things are hunky-dory inside etc, cos theyre a pig to change but easy to maintain. Undo the bolts, beat the knuckle off the tapers, peel the boots and grease up, then work the balls to check they are nice and free.

All these things help save you that catastrophic failure or the big repair bill :)
