o_O ?? why so short!

as sam has said below ;)

I'm guessing its so short because the gearbox/transfer box output is moved further back than the standard series box??

Correct, if I had an LT77 short box then it wouldn't be a problem nor would it be if I was in a 109 but in the 88 theres not enough room for a long one.

Essentially I'll have to use forklift to determine how much travel I can get safely then add in some axle straps on the rear until I can get some custom axles made up or mate the series box to the R380 or I could just shove a locker in the rear. Wont solve the problem but it'll help out a bit

you could adjust the rear axle diff angle and maybe use a double cardon.

I may have to turn it up a couple of degrees to make it work for a little while but shouldn't see it being a problem as everything sits at a decent angle.

Will put it on the series this weekend if I get a chance.

Tub work is gonna be my first port of call when I get there on friday. Planning to get half the to do list done this weekend

For the sake of getting the correct box short bellhousing box or indeed a std 88 inch box you just lost all possibility of getting anywhere near the ammount of articulation a std 88 inch has. And by adding axle straps and I guess extended bump stops (By the look of that Propshaft) to limit your travel so your prop does not bind up you have just lost the main advantage a landy has over its competitors (offorad ability) all for the sake of a 5th gear???? ~Are you Mad Man!! Lol!

Dr be careful with propshaft angles if you raise the nose of the diff it becomes undrivable serious vibration enough to make it so horrendus you pull the prop off mid outing and drive in the front! anything above 40 mph its like its going to explode

I will no doubt rip out the disco box when the correct one comes up for sale but for now it will do ;)

I wont be trialing it like you do so I should be ok for some greenlanes in the meantime

When I say raise the nose of the diff I mean like 10mm to 20mm higher as it sits normally it makes a huge difference honestly. I once in my wisdom moved the rear radius arm bushes to the other side of the mounts made my sals (longer nose i know More effect) but moved the nose up like 12mm and it was undrivable around the offroad site god knows what it would have been like on the road. gave me somthing like a 6mm shorter wheelbase which I believed gave my car an advantage It didn't!! and it was horrible!

Wont bother changing the angle in that case I'll fit the wide angle joint on the end if needed but from the looks of things it shouldn't change the angle too drastically. The prop is at about 2/3rds its original length as it stands

thats not much angle at all!

I'll see how much articulation I have left anyway but when I get the chance I'll swap the disco box for a fender one or mate the correct box up
