looking for a roll cage for me 90 after a couple of brown trousers moments thinking it was going to go over, so can anyone recommend a roll cage for a 90 hardtop that bolts to the chassis.

thanks

Whitbread they do nice strong cages to MSA spec and its made from decent material that wont deform after a small off

just a thought are the internal roll hoops any good as wont have to cut the body then and has anyone got pics of how they mount to the chassis.

I prefer External because it minimizes body damage and you can rub off trees when the need arises in comps. Check out Association of rover owners for specs that way you build it to latest Regs you can compete in it and know its a propper job of mounting it. Ask Malcom at Whitbread he will have a chat and I'm sure he will sort youout a good deal.

We had our cage custom made. Much better way and got it made for alot cheaper! Best way if you know the right people, can get it exactly how you like it, ours was standard cage but also with an internal hoop and external rear quarters and front and wing tops attaching to the winch bumper. No Scaffolding used either!

If you're seriously interested in having a cage made for you such as mine then private mail me.

found a chap who would make a cage if i supplied the CDS tube but still dont know how to attach it to the chassis as dont want to weld on galvanize.

Todd,

I don't believe your cage is msa legal? Plese let me know if I'm wrong but there is no rear stays? Is it built to msa blue book specs?

Scaffold tube exceeds minimum standard for msa/blue book spec cages IF built to the correct recognised design and mounting points. And its seamed and very cheap unlike cds will not deform as easy. Good and bad depends on situation.

Without rear stays you need to have the cage Destruction tested and certified hence why there is very limited ammount of companys supply those type "cages" fit for competition use and the cost is high because they have been certified. A cage is a life saver anything but a recognised design/Material is just bolt on bling extra weight that will not help you in any way off road might save a panel might deform and hurt sombody.

Land Rover 90 Hard Top Internal/External Roll Cage
Full competition specification rollcage for the LR90 hardtop (meets with M.S.A approved design and materials used)

Full External has no mention on specifications look yourself! You need the rear stays

so are you saying scaffold tube is ok or not and would 4mm wall 2" gas pipe be ok for a roll hoop.

and would a roll hoop like this be ok if it was clamped/ bolted to the
chassis

gcoo8154 hope you dont mind be pinching your pic

made some 80 80 box sections welded to the chassis at the correct angle anorl and then a base plate the same as the plates on the cage so they both bolt together if you get me  if i remember ile try and picture it tomoz

Gcoo8154, I'm fitting an internal cage soon, got the cage and sorting out the chassis in a couple of weeks prior to making the mounts. The front is easy to do but i'm confused about the back. Could you put a pic of your chassis mounts up? Do your mounts basically create end up with flat plates against the underside of the tub then sandwich the cage to it with bolts?

Thanks, Harry

yep i can tomoz mate to dark now, um all i did was sandwich the plates as you sed, then bolt the plate to be sandwiched against the bottom of the tub tack the box section up at the correct angle anorl etc,:D
