For me personally, when I wanted to swap my 90's pickup status to a full hardtop, only an externally ribbed roof to complement my Landys 1988 age would do. Fortunately, I managed to source one locally for a good price, mind you, it took so long to remove all the layers of paint I swear it was significantly smaller after!
Anyway, I digress. My hardtops side panels have (had) a small vertical spar around 12" back from the B pillar spot welded in as is with the rest of its construction. I don't know the age of this hardtop by the way. On other Landys, I've noticed theirs is situated pretty much half way along? Now, I can see the reasons for altering the fiddly multi-part design of the hardtops 'B' pillar that locates the door/shut seal & completely eliminating this altogether on later models, but not the interior spar. Anorak stuff I know, just wondered If anyone knows why this is?
