Done me research and came up confused!

Right well I am in the middle of removing me engine out of my Defender and I am up to the stage where you have to remove the radiator, now I have been told it is necessary to remove the radiator, but is it? I mean remove all the hoses and pipes, so nothing is connected then when pulling the engine out just make sure it doesn't swing into her then jobs a gudin right?

Just a bit confused why it is necessary to remove the rad. :D

You're right - you don't actually have to remove it. But it's such a simple job to take it out, especially after you've disconnected all the hoses, that why would you leave it in? You'll kick yourself if you go and smack the engine into it while you're hoisting it out.

Ah, yeah guess its an easy job, just thought it would be work and because I am lazy beggar I try the easy route, but guess I could flush and clean it while its out! Thanks guys.

The other day i was doing a job on my series 2 the spanner slipped around and ripped the core out of the rad and its one of the really old flat topped ones, talk about annoyed.
So i would remove it, just to be safe.
