As above, they've only done 400 miles but never really quietened down.
I did go for budget lifters and a new cam but sure they should be quiet, even if they don't last as long.
I stuck 1 gallon of 15/40 CarLube Semi Synthetic and topped up with Castrol GTX 15/40.
They get quieter as the engine gets hotter so on that line of thinking, will 5/30 Synthetic quieten things down?

Cheers.

Synthetic should not be used, semi sythetic is ok. Did you prime the lifters before you installed them, and bed the cam in at 2000 rpm for 15 mins?

dont use any thinner oil..the rest of the engine will not like you!

Was going off Autodata recommended oils. Cold Climate: 5W/30. Moderate: 10W/40. Hot: 20W/50.
Thanks for the info about synthetic though, stopped me making a mistake lol.

Fett, same woes mate, lifters never really went quiet, 700 miles now and still the same. Tappity on idle, deffo lifters, knocking noise while accelerating.....fook knows although the standard test for fooked big ends, light throttle, 3000 rpm, its quiet.

What the fook is going on with my engine, is it cursed?

Lifters were soaked in a tub of 15/40 for 2 days before fitting, cam was not bed in although I had cause to remove the inlet manifold after some miles and the cam was fine, lobes still had a good edge on them.

sorry to hear it mate, if you want my honest advice and your wallet can stand it I would just drive it untill you kill it and get stu to do you a new engine, will be a couple of k though

or fill it with some form of snake oil, wynes or simalr and sell it sold as seen :D

using cheap followers and cheap cam in a v8 is false economey!
yes gen are expensive but are the best you can fit.
it could be the rocker arms that are noisy worn oil pump, low oil presure, sticking relife valve in pump, or faulty oil filter?
always rev at 2k for first 15 min to bed cam in once oil light has gone out.
10/40 oil is the best semi syn though i use 15/40 in my 94 classic

I'll be honest, my only concern is the knocking noise under load, sounds like the bottom end but the symptoms/tests prove nothing, as I said, 3000 rpm, hold in neutral and the engine is quiet where if the bottom end was in fact screwed, would have expected it to be banging its bollox off.
Fett, I recently found out my good friend is now franchising LR parts and can supply me with an OEM cam and good quality lifters for just £110. Bastard coulda mentioned it a month ago eh?

Thanks for your thoughts and replies lads, its the only thing that keeps me sane with my RR
