Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me or if anyone has any ideas...

I have a Range Rover Vogue L322 55 reg. I drive my car this morning, no problems starting it or when driving the 30 minute journey. However, I parked up and left the car for a few minutes and when I returned the car wouldn't start or rev (not even a noise)?!

I don't think it's the battery as the car lights and radio still work. There is plenty of fuel, I have also tried turning off the auto lights and radio before starting the car up - still nothing! The key is not damaged.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Petrol or Diesel???

Had Similar - take a goosey at these two threads....

If it is a Diesel, they have 2 fuel pumps, one in the tank, one outside the tank....common fail on the Diesel is the pump outside of the tank!

Does the engine turn over but not fire up? if it doesn't turn over - it could be the ignition switch, they are another common fail item!

It's a 3 litre diesel. The key turns in the switch but the engine won't start / fire up.

Is the fuel pump expensive to replace or fix?

Thanks!

So the engine will crank but not start....

Do a search on here, recently there was a chap who had similar issues with the Diesel and replaced his outside of the tank pump for about £80 I think!!

I'll see if I can find it!

Try reading this one... http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/2006-l322-3-0td6-diesel-lift-pump-211509-4.html

Sorry guys - it's a she by the way. Hence why I know nothing about all this.....

I put the key in the ignition and turn it but the engine physically won't start, or even make a noise. Not even a click. Just deadly silent?!

I'm not at home right now but if I remember correctly nothing out of the ordinary. I believe the battery and oil lights came up?

Check wires to starter motor sounds duff to me try putting it in gear get someone to push it if starts then its your starter bushes wearing or you starter Solinoid has packed up

Try your spare key!
If not, it's either a low charge on your battery( try some jump leads from another vehicles battery)
Or a common fault on these cars is the ignition switch failure

Try putting your foot on the brake with the ignition on and select from park to drive and then to neutral

Then try cranking the car

Could be a sticky inhibitor switch, as mine did exactly the same either that or possible immobiliser problem
So try the spare key as also suggested above

I had the exact same problem last year with mine. I got the pump cheap from LR Centre Liverpool. Had to lift the rear seat open the 2 tank caps and change it. Took me weeks to find out it was that.

Bit offensive to the women who do know about things like this* and to those who may not know but don't use their sex as an excuse.

As the guys have said (several times) try a search. It sounds like fuel pump.
