Damit - gonna have to start another L322 thread, chalk this one up too Keith!!

Last night we went out to see my parents, got in and she was hesitant to fire but struggled into life, and as she was warm, switched immediately to gas. The drive was fine, no issues.

Was at the parents for about 3 hours, then went to leave just after 11pm.

Starter turns over fine, tried to catch but nothing. Tried a few more times, still nada.

Walked back to my parents, dad lent me his car to get home.

Came back this morning to try again. Put 2 gallons in the tank, and it struggled to fire and ran for 3 seconds then died.

From then on nothing, turns over but nothing.

Phoned RAC, joined (£108), waited for the man in his orange van.

40 minutes later, between my copy of RAVE, and his laptop we traced the fuse, relay, wiring, and found the pump.

Removed fuse - got power to fuse
Removed relay - tested fine
Bridged Relay - nothing
Check current draw across fuse - nothing
Check multiplugs on pump - power to pump
Check pump -can't hear or feel it running hmmmmmm
Bonnet up
Acoustic cover off
Schreider valve on fuel manifold - rag and Allen key, pressed in and no fuel came out indicating no fuel pressure ( RAC man not covered to open fuel system so I did it for him)

Looks like the pump is fecked, so now waiting for the lorry to take it back home!!

Good thing is it's no an expensive job. Had to do mine last year. It might even have got a mention on one of the forums here :)

edit: If you need I can look back my accounts and see where I bought the part as I got a really good price.

Any info on pump prices and suppliers greatfuly received....

Looking at pump prices...

Island 4x4 - £333.33 plus VAT

Others are only going up in price...not checked Bay of E yet....But, Devon 4x4 do a replacement pump unit only that fits into the whole pump and sender unit....so instead of replacing the whole unit, you just replace the pump....(and the seal obviously) - this is £151ish INCLUDING the VAT....

Any thoughts...just come back from hols - cash tight - need car to get to work!!??

Stop going on about how there more expensive !
There more on parts yes, but there a lot better overall so there worth the money

Newer tech = more money

Just jealousy me thinks lol

Porsche 928s hp fuel pump £61.20 including VAT. Think i would rather repair an old car that don't run than repair a new car that don't run. :):):D:D
