Bit offensive to the women who do know about things like this* and to those who may not know but don't use their sex as an excuse.

As the guys have said (several times) try a search. It sounds like fuel pump.

*For example http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/thinking-wether-attempt-starter-not-221241.html

Oh, come off it - I've fiddled about with cars and bikes since I was 13 years old - in well over 30 years of farting around on cars I can count on precisely two fingers the number of women I've met that actually know what's going on under the bonnet - and I was in the trade for years too!

As for the fuel pump comment - the poster said there is no sound - nothing when turning the key - how the hell would that be the fuel pump?

I'd say - ensure the battery is actually charged and check the ignition switch as some others have suggested.

Obviously the type of women you choose to hang around with. :) You must've been out of the trade a long time. Plenty of females in the trade now.
Fuel pump: there was no sound from my veh when fuel pump failed, although until AA guy drained battery, the battery light did come on and just in case you missed it, in your rush to jump on my post, I'm not the only one who mentioned it may be fuel pump.
I think I just heard your rock calling you ;)

There lights to dash so with this ignition issue I don't know a lot about these models are you peeps saying its not working on position II ie starter position if so and all related relays are intact then in position one and a jump of the started motor should tell if its the starter motor or its Solinoid if it turns via jumping terminals then its ignition.

Come on guys if the cars not even cranking then its not the fuel pump

So you have tried selecting through the gears with no avail

Might wanna check the voltage out of the ignition switch ?

You guys should remember that on almost every other car forum, if you ask a question, you can wait days for a reply. Newbies can take a bit of time to get the hang of LandyZone where sometimes it seems like a race to answer most posts.

totally true !

Lol, i had to mention the gear change procedure.

my gearbox once had a sticky inhibitor switch. you go to crank the engine (like the OP) and nothing.... silence...

go from Drive to Park and neutral a couple of times and it would then crank and start fine.

changing the gear position seems to free up the switch... :)

Check wires to starter motor sounds duff to me try putting it in gear get someone to push it if starts then its your starter bushes wearing or you starter Solinoid has packed up
You're away you can't push start an auto, right?
