Yes me too Graham, big congratulations you deserve it.

And also thanks for a very well documented project. I have a vibration which sounds like a resonating cover plate from my auto box, so I was particularly interested in this, as I will have to be "going in" soon myself.

Re the oil level, you may find that as soon as the wheels are on the ground so the 'box can really take up drive as you cycle through the gear positions, the oil level will go down and need topping up.

The very best of luck to you.

Dave

Maybe it hasn filled the oil cooler yet mate? Is it thermostatic or does it circulate all the time?

Just drive it steady and keep checking that level.

If it's too low it will start to noticeably lose drive before it actually damages the box.

Great work man, the hardest part is stopping to take pics all the time!! :D

Horrah it works!!!
Gear changes are now a lot smoother than with the previous box, better go on eBay and leave some good feedback :) :D
I rechecked the oil this evening and it was low, so overfilled it (doesn't take much to go from min to max on dipstick!) and had to drop some out the sump.

final couple of questions..

anyone know whether this plug is supposed to be connected to anything? I'm guessing not and it's a give-away but just incase:

finally, when moving the gear selector it isn't completely lined up with the plate showing each of the positions 'P,R,N,3,2,1'. The selector rod length has an adjustable thread where it connects to the gearbox I guess I need to lengthen/shorten accordingly?..

Hopefully a part of this thread may save someone a bit of time in the future :D

It only takes 0.25ltr to go from low to high. You know that you have to check the level whilst the engine is running don't you?

Well done Graham you should be well pleased with yourself i know i would be,The plug isn't for the starter inhibitor switch is it? so that it will only start in P or N.

Hi Dave - yep am now getting a stable reading at max on dipstick with engine running after selecting each of the gears and then sticking it in neutral

There aren't that many things it could be: reverse lights; inhibitor switch; difflock switch; hi-lo switch for trans box (only some markets);

Can't think of anything else at the mo.

Cheers
Dave

Diff lock switch connector from transfer box then? had a look on Rave and that is the only electrical connections i can see so if it isn't them i have no idea:confused:

I'm pretty sure the reverse lights and starter inhibitor share the same switch.

Thanks shall check transfer box as reverse light/inhibitor switch and handbrake lead are already connected

Well done!!!
