Half the price it was a year ago. No spares with it now. Doors dun't fall orf.

Is that the same spec as the wounded soldiers were using on Top Gear last season?

If so I'm a bit surprised at the price as I thought they were entry level kit, unlike the Wildcat they were working up to :D

TBH, I don't see owt much on it that would make it worth that sort of money, but then I'm no expert so....

I think it was LRO who had an article a year or so ago with a pro rally driver showing you how to buy + kit out to spec a gaylander for rallying. It cost a total of £2k with roll cage.

I'm struggling to find the £11k of extras that one has to make it worth buying.

I Think I know these Guys. the landie is the dogs and they are ok.
Let me know if you want it it.
I took the **** outa the Gaylander. they had the unit nextdoor but its a good bit of kit.

if you want to have a look let me know

A £2000 rally Freelander is pure fiction. A sub £1000 Freelander will need so much overhauling of parts like the IRD,Headgasket (1.8), brake systems etc and this will cost a small fortune.Second hand IRD £350, headgasket replacement up to £400, new brakes all round £??? You cannot buy a cheap Freelander and just expect to throw loads of kit at it to make it reliable enough to do a rally. If you do then you will fail at the first hurdle.
Where does the rollcage come from?? The only firm I know at present producing Freelander roll cages to order is Tornadomotorsport and the basic bolt in cage is around the £650 mark. Then there's the labour costs. I'm sure not everyone out there has a complete workshop at their disposal.
The Ebay Freelander is a Bone Fide M-Sport Freelander. They would have cost tens of thousands in development costs to build as there was nothing "off the shelf" as regards to the rally specific parts. The Reiger suspension alone is £5000.The rear fuel cell cost £4500.That's just 2 parts.Seam welding alone is usually around the £2000 for a saloon car.The M-Sport is fully seem welded. Left hand drive, steering wheel and seating set up mimics the position of Colin McRae's Ford Focus. The O.Z. Racing wheels are made of magnesium.£340 a piece when new.

If this is not a clone, I think Land Rover made about 8 of them, and they were at one point going to be broken after their intended use.
A few years ago there was an article in one of the Landy mags trying to trace the remaining originals down, these original ones were not knocked up in someones garage / shed.
As said above, if this is original, there is very little that a standard out of the showroom model had, including the crappy 1.8 engine.

Ok.So lets put this topic of the £2000 rally Freelander to bed. The vehicle was a 1.8 with a blown head that was supplied complete with internal rollcage by Dave Billings of Tornado Motorsport. The new cylinder head was off the Britpart shelf and the fitting of this and other componants was done by Anthony Fern , formerly of Freelanderstorm.
Payment to both parties ? A little bit of advertising, that's all.No money changed hands.
So this is where the mystery ends. Yes, you can build a rally spec Freelander for £2000, but only if you are the MD of Britpart and you can take parts "off the shelf" and also have the complete vehicle itself virtually donated for free. Oh, and how do I know this to be true you may ask? Well, I've known Anthony and Dave for a few years now and it was mentioned a week ago in passing and they gave me the low down on exactly how thisLRO article came about.
