Hi all

This question has probably been asked lots of times before(ive searched the threads cant seem to find the answer) i want to replace the 17" freelander alloys on my 55 plate freelander with a set of 16" alloys ive read a lot of post saying some of the earlier ones wont fit a later model? can anyone tell me what ones will fit and what i have to look out for?

thanks in advance

Lee

Any wheel including and after an 02 plate definitely will fit - earlier ones I don't know about for sure.

I have 17" alloys and would not go back to 16" for any reason.

I've got 235/55 tyres on instead of 215/65 and the ride / grip is much better.

I still go off-road and have no problems.

Why do you want to 'turn back the clock'?

can i fit 16" wheels to my mk 1 1.8 petrol the wheels ive found are off something else the tyres are are off roads 205 ? 16 would they fit the car and do any other rims fit ?

Quite a few Jap cars have 114mm (a few points of a mill different) but the centre bores are different.

See 18" MESH 313HB ALLOY WHEELS LANDROVER FREELANDER LEXUS GS300 GS450 IS200 IS300 | eBay for details of other cars with similar sizes. If you were to buy these (horrible) wheels the shop would simply fit the correctly sized spigot rings in the centre to match your hubs so they didn't wobble about at speed.

Offsets may also be different but could work in your favour if you plan to fit wider tyres as they may offer extra clearance from suspension components.

i was in a dealers today trying to buy a tin of paint and saw them in a corner with a note on them saying offers i liked the tyres but on 16" rims so if i can get them at the right price could i fit 16" landy rims with out problems as i was told buy tyre dealer i can only fit sizes that are standard

Are there any numbers(imprinted on the wheels) i can look out for when buying a set of 16" as some people may say they are off an 02 plate when they aint?

cheers
