Hi all

New member looking for help following purchase of a LR Freelander (04 plate) as a dog mobile.

Im looking at replacing the bland but functional head unit with something a little more modern; has anyone done this?

Ive found two potential candidates,

1 - Sigma Car Stereo

2 - Ebay

They appear to be almost identical, the former is £100 more, and the later claims some dash work is required for a flush fit.

Has anyone any experience of either model? Or an alternative unit?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I fitted a Kenwood double DIN to my 04 FL1 & it didn't need any mods to the cars dash (just interface connectors to operate with the steering wheel controls).

I fitted a Joying 2-Din one to wife's 2005 3-door FL1. (Similar to this one) Had to replace the roof antenna with a decent FM-DAB one, but the whole system works well. It runs Waze, Google Maps, DAB & FM Radio, plus whatever your favourite MP3 or streaming audio player is.

If you go for generic android, get something with plenty of memory & at least 4-core CPU. Otherwise they struggle to run radio & sat-nav at same time. Latest 8-core Joying with 4GB RAM memory are fairly good, and they respond to issues, unlike many other vendors.

Also, most Chinese androids have crap hands-free unless you buy a better microphone !!
