Finally put 1980 SWB sIII in for MOT this morning and it failed on two counts.

1 Brake balance. Apparently front ones weren't engaging properly, 30
% of what they should be.

My line of thinking was that I've pushed the shuttle valve out on the dual line system? does this sound reasonable and is it easy to fix ? or have I missed something more obvious?

2 Steering rod is contacting the leaf springs when turned to full lock on one direction.

Can I just increase the clearence by adding washers to the track rod end??

Any advice appreciated

cheers

Shuttle valve only operates to tell you that you have a brake unballance between the two circuits and does not change the way that the brakes work in the event of the valve having moved.

Check that it is not the clamp on the track rod fouling the spring - I found this on my SIII a few weeks ago but I cured it simply by turning the clamp further around the bar
