Been waiting for the weather to get better before trying to fix my bad rumble.
Turns out to be the hand brake drum running out (yes you did say to check it Jon). At last I can sleep at night now after sorting my engine that is.

Good to hear you found it, took me a while to find it when I had the same problem, Don't forget Brian's breaking one ;)

Hoping to get out soon, the defender will be going on eBay once I have fixed a few bits first, want to get one last outing in before I become a shogun driver

I've got the complete drum here still attached to the transfer box.

Might be fun seperating it as its all off the disco and on my drive so no way to stop the drum turning to get the large bolt undone.

Sounds fun, is it Bures tomorrow? - not that i can make it :-(

I am hoping to plan a full days laning for mid feb. Thinking of trying somewhere new, maybe North Kent or into Suffolk? Might even have snow if the weather is to be believed?

Finally got the suspension finished, along with a wheel bearing, new rear diff oil where a breather had come out and ruined it, replaced push in breather to threaded, thanks for tapping them out Mikey. So if it all works OK tomorrow will see you at Bures.

Geoff..... :jaw:

I WANT ONE!! :crazy_driver:

I'm all sort cheers anyway Brian.
I had another tranfer box but the handbrake had a different cable set up so never change it when me & Mikey changed the box. After we changed it, all the way home it was ok then a couple of days later it started rumbling again.
I got the nut off with the weight of the motor so a windy gun would be the only way if it's on the floor.
Hoping to pick up a breaker 200tdi in a couple of weeks, just need to check the oil pressure then swop the motor into mine. If the pressure is low I'll stick it on ebay. It's been used as a shooting wagon so most of it has been cut up but the motor, tranmission & axles looks good.

We are doing a new route starting in Sudbury thanks do Drizz.

We will be covering about 125 miles.

If its a good one then perhaps it will save you planning one.

But you don't have to get the centre nut off to remove the drum? Just a small screw if it still has one, only need to remove the nut to remove the flange....

Unfortunately we didn't get to do much of it today. Second lane in I slid into a ditch and fooked a CV! But if that lanes anything to go by we might have a good day next time. So nick it's still planned, but not attempted!
Did text you today nick, do you still have you're axles?

Sorry drizz, only just saw your text (just replied).

Looking good Geoff. I'll be transferring the 2" extended shocks from the disco to the fender at some point.

Thanks for your help today matt. Lots removed from the breaker and then an afternoon of dragging tree trunks out the ground :D:D:D
Already looking froward to getting that willow out of the pond.

I went back this afternoon and took all the unwanted trim to the tip.

No worries, I will try and bring the injector removal tool next time. Also my slide hammer :) Still 3 so far ain't bad with an old adjustable and some wd40 :D

Got the fuel tank to change on the disco and get the bolt holes sorted in the roof. Also need to re-attach light bar and a few bitty bobs then I'll be on the road again.

Charged my battery up over the weekend and then set about seeing if i had a drain. Doesnt look like it :) Armed the alarm and i was getting 0.3A for around 10 secs and then it dropped to 0.1A. Wondering if its because its a new battery and hasnt had any use yet except me starting the truck the couple of times. Have left it disconnected for now and will see how i get on with it when i get back on the road.

Also spent a few quid last week and bought a winch and winch bumper :D just waiting for it to turn up then got to go about fitting it along with a second battery and wire it all in. Also need to mod my snorkel/airbox arrangement as at the moment its obstructing where the battery has to go.

Hopefully swapping the rear axles this weekend as well as long as it doesnt rain.
