hi people ive just read a post which says you have to have your siren connected for the eka code to work is this correct ???

Yes it is,plus all panels including bonnet closed.

everyday is a school day as they say!!

i think it was on range rovers net,it explained how some fella was trying to enter his eka and nothing no sounds no flashes nothing so someone told him your sirens not connected so he connected it after numerous days of trying and shazam first time, i hope thats not why mine wont accept the eka ill be spitting feathers

everytime i turn the key for the eka procedure should there be a indicator flash or a beep or something to tell me im doing the eka correct ???

Yup, the side light warning light should illuminate with each turn of the key. Shows receipt by the BECM I believe

so im guessing then as mine only flashes on the first sequence my locks not sending the signal to the bcem

Or the becm will not accept the signal. Check the connectors (white plugs) floor level drivers side "A" post, behind panel first, then connectors at becm and finally strip the door lock and clean the micro switch's with contact cleaner. Failing that contact Rick the pick on this forum

Only if it has the B-Bus sounder I think.

whats a b-bus sounder?

right so ive just entered the four turns to the left before i start the eka procedure and every time i returned the indicators flashed once but no matter hnow many times i try the right turn nothung flashes do you think the unlock microswitch is kaput

See post 9 or if you want to make it harder for yourself, start with the lock and leave the easier things till the last

hi adam
1st strip lock and clean , same as u did with passenger door
2nd connect sounder
3rd ensure all; doors boot bonnett sun roof shut
4th lock drivers door
5th proceed with eka programme
if no result try 1515 code i.e. skeleton
6th try kicker see if it works
7th if no result do what i said from start ,,,, buy rf reciever and get diagnostics and at £45 a pop thats bargain of the year otherwise its gonna do your head in

final answer strip becm and ecu and send it to rick oh and thanxs for the answer over the "switch " that was doin my head in analyzing that !!!!!! but answer i suppose quite logical considering where it was !!!!!!! thats a first from factory fitted ive ever seen ..... press on mate you will get there ,,regards mozz x

ive checked both white plugs drivers side and passenger side and all the becm wires seem clean and water damage free i had both seats out earlier this week and checked them for damage

hey mozz i know that switch was doing my head in trying to trace it through the car so i had a look at all my reciepts and there it was dvd and twin hd screens fitted at guy salmon landrover and the bill..................£1045...wtf...thats why all the connectors and fitting are the same as the rangie because it was done by them,some ppl have to much money

Go for the lock then mate, pay particular attention to the wiring, micro switches and connectors. Good luck

your not wrong , considering what the rangie cost on the day from new ,then £1045 was only a tip to the chauffer , ha ha ,,ok mate im down the road from you till tuesday so press on and keep me informed .oh mines booked in with neil in 2 weeks when im down next, !!!!!! cheers mozz

Battery backed up sounder. The BECM needs to see either the BBUS or the down dollar horn connected for the EKA to work.I think it was probably just a belt and braces attitude towards security.Difficult car to steal - even if you have the key sometimes....
