Curious void where a fan should perhaps be?

Yo guys,
Just climbed under the bonnet of my newly acquired 1999 1.8 Exi Freelander and noticed-amongst other things-a vacant hole to the right (as viewed from the front) where a second fan could sit. My first question therefore is...did this model come equipped with twin fans, or just the left hand one as mine seems to be?
My other question is...should my vehicle constantly 'rumble' when driving and should the steering wheel physically 'pulsate' when applying the brakes?

dunno about the 1.8 lump
but .. on my td4 .. i think the right fan be for the air-conditioning system ..
not quite sure if both have something to do with engine cooling .. or not ..
( only noticed that recently while re-charging the ac ..
( first time i've seen .. or heard .. either fan working since i bought the vehicle early 2012

The off side fan is fitted to all Freelanders, the near side fan is only fitted to Freelanders that have Air Con. Oddly both fans are fed by a common power source so both run together but the off side fan runs slightly slower iirc.

As you all say the same then that's good enough for me. Job done.

Cheers guys :)

Steering could be warped brake discs.

illy

Sounds feasible Illy but since posting my questions I've also found an advisory note with the current MOT suggesting that the vehicles brake system will require repair or adjustment

I think it's time to visit a garage and then inform the dealer that they might shortly be picking up a repair tab under the supplied warranty...

...I'm sure they'll be ever so pleased to hear this:doh:

Cheers for the reply.
