Hi everyone,

I have just bought my dream, bucket list car, today.
I've got a late 2014 GS TD 2.2 Manual.
It is a stunner.

I have three issues/questions:
1. The cruise control buttons on the steering wheel are dead, doing nothing, but they are supposed to be active in the spec. Any ideas what could be wrong?

2. Can roof rails be fitted, so we can carry our kayak? If so, recommendations and links to recommended options, please?

3. The grey front grill and two feont wing trims are quite faded/tarnished. Can replacent ones be purchased anywhere?

Many thanks.

Brake switch has two functions, 1 brake lights, 2 switch cruise off, they are separate to each other, ie brake lights can work but not not cruise side and vice versa.
Had this on several mercs and a d2.

Are you using them correctly?
To activate CC, you have to hold the + button for 3 seconds, once the desired speed is reached. At least that's how it works on the pre-facelift interior models like my SE.

Yes.
You can get LR rails and cross bars, the former bolt on to special bolt hols under the roof plastic trims. The cross bars clamp to the rails once the rails are installed.

The front grill is part of the bumper, but it can be removed and repainted if needed by a body shop.
The wing vents are available and easy changed as they simply clip in. I replaced my peeling silver ones with gloss black.

Thank ypu so much for all three of your responses @Nodge68, that is extremely helpful.

1. CCI will purchase a new brake pedal switch (do you have any lonks to one). I will press and hold + for 3 seconds first, to try. Failing all of that, I will take it for diagnostics check.

2. I will attempt to source a fitter/bodyshop who may be able to fit the roof rails in my TR5 area (Do you have a link to an appropriate roof rail kit? Could you point me towards an appropriate body shop near TR5 (Truro, Cornwall) area?)

3. I have source a kit for a click on/stick trim to place over the front grill (https://www.powerfuluk.com/front-grille-cover-trim-for-land-rover-freelander-2-2012-silver.html) and the same company sell the wing vents (unless you have a link for a better source?)
2014 Freelander 2 (facelift) GS TD4 2.2.

Thank you again and in anticipation.

Do you have a link to an appropriate roof rail kit
Ebay is your friend.
Make sure you get a rail kit suitable for your vehicle, be it have a sunroof or not, as they are different.

Unfortunately I don't use any garages, so have no experience with them.
There is an LR independent place between Summercourt and Fraddon (Narrow Lane), but I've no idea what their work is like, I just drive past them in the morning.
If you're a good DIYer, then fitting roof rails isn't difficult, there's even videos on YouTube which show how it's done. ;)

Powerful UK are a good company, I've bought quite a few items from them myself.

Some parts numbers to assist the search

LR007220 = roof rail = with sunroof panoramic
LR006608 = roof rail = without sunroof panoramic
LR002417 = cross bars which fit both of the above rails

On my MY15 you just need to press and release the cruise button. Green lamp on the dash will illuminate when its active. Need to keep the pedals still while doing it.
