Clutch Claw, stock clearance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure you can on a disco/defender, the accelerator seems to be too far over at least on my 110 manual.

Can't see it being much use on an auto, better off trying to lock the gearshift IMHO.

What's your thinking with the brake/accelerator?
 
as i understand it...it locks all the pedals together...and limits any downward movement so i doubt you could engage 1st gear anyway......but if that was a problem then i dare say parking in reverse or putting the hi/lo box into neutral would end those fears......think il pop along to screwfix later(thanks one life)
 
Thanks Onelife - just ordered me a Clutch Claw - Only trouble is I still don't have my Landy back (my stolen Defender in the Forum)
Cant decide what to do about gettin another 90 - feel like I am giving in if I get a rubbish any old car - WHY SHOULD THOSE SCUMBAGS BEAT US LANDY DRIVERS?
I have heard that the Clutch Claws are good - but if I get another 90 I will supplement my security system with a shotgun I think!

Is the Disclok the one that goes over the entire steering wheel ?

There is a system on HGVs that works by holding the service brake one - and there used to be one for motor bikes which you applied by pulling the brake lever, and then locking a valve in position whilst still holding the lever. This then held pressure in the hydraulic lines which kept the brakes applied. does any one know if any similar system is available?

At the end of the day, if a determined thief really wants the car, then it will go, the only thing we can do is hold him up long enough for him to be caught in the act, the longer the hold up, the more likely they will be caught, the more likely they are to move on to a less secure target.

I have loaded a landy with steering on full lock, handbrake on and in gear. I also unloaded it again in the same condition.:p

I have also removed several disc locks and they are the worst ones I have come across to remove.:(

The only thing I have found harder to remove are wheel clamps with loose bars inside the arms that make em almost;) impossible to get off.:D

Spot on, that's my thoughts as well. Have dislock, now ordered clutch claw.
 
already have a disclock....and an alarm...and a immobilsor...and now a clutchclaw lol...oh and a shotgun lol am i becoming paranoid? Anyway,ordered mine today so should be here next week
CTXiTED....there already is a system that locks your brakes or clutch with a key,its around £400 fitted(cant fit it yourself)and it breaks into your hydraulic system so it cant be hotwired etc....i cant remember the name of it but i do remember reading about it a while back in one of the landi porn mags

Yep - thats the baby !!

Bit blardy pricey though - I will have to investigate that lockable hydraulic valve with one of my suppliers.

This months LRO says the clutch claw is excelent locking brake and clutch down meaning you cant drive away?

**** it have ordered one and that with an isolator and a steering crook lock at least if it gets blagged i know i tried!

All takes time for them to get them off giving me time to find my ****ing charvernator!:D
 
whilst I agree that there is not a lot we can do to prevent a determined theif from stealing our vehicles, the police told me that 9 out of 10 car thefts are carried out by opportunists who thiink they will "give it a go"
so a nice bright yellow disk (or similar) will make 9 out of 10 t***s think again.
My expeirience is haveing someone try to steal my defender but ony succeeding in breaking in and ripping f**k out of the dash, and then my insurance company casually telling me (over the 'phone) that they would probably write it off, without seeing it. I decided to withdraw my claim and fix it myself. (£34.)
So do what you have to do to desuade these lo-lifes to go else-where. fit as many deterents as you can and make the big and yellow!
 
When I was younger and into drag racing we used to fit an ordinary domestic plumbing ball valve into the front brake line(s) from the master cylinder so that we could lock the front brakes and allow the rears to spin during burn outs.
We would apply the brakes, operate the valve and then let the pedal up. Bingo - front brakes locked on, rear brakes released. When we wanted to go back to normal just open the valve and go.
Cheap but effective.
