Hi guys my renewal has come up and I was wondering who people have had luck with for better/cheaper policies. Having been ripped off by admiral multicar again (more expensive than anyone with the supposed discount of my families 3 other cars)
Was quoted 800 for a £2300 1999 D2 hastings not even multicar was only 480! I'm 23 with 6 years no claims and somehow my twin sister with no years no claims insurance is cheaper! Only an old first granted but still... thought they couldn't include sexism anymore
Anyway I was thinking to try adrian flux but the insurance needs to be comparable for when I finish my 90 rebuild to either add that on top or change to that. Where as I don't think some of the normal sorta companies will insure due to mods and the price it will be worth. Guessing it'll be 10k + value but compared to normal 300tdi that they'll value on its big diffirence?
Also what mods are worth mentioning? Like it's had an engine change but to a "factory fit" 300tdi from a v8 disco gearbox 2 " lift new chassis tdci dash.... basically all rebuilt but how much counts to be declared? Like assuming chassis no cos it's a like for like swap cept galv? Disc brake on back?
Any help appreciated thankyou

I'm with Admiral but I won't be next year. Have you tried NFU, they insure sure a lot of farm boys and I've heard they are competetive. Insurance is a numbers game. Every question they ask has a number of points attributed to it, when they ask where is the car parked overnight, 10 points for on the road, 5 points for on your drive and one point for in a secure locked garage. The numbers I have mentioned are for illustrative purposes only. If your sisters quote is a lot cheaper, find out what answers she gave compared to yours. Be warned making a false declaration to your insurers will make your insurance void if you claim and they find out.

Admiral rip you off too?
No not tried nfu did a couple compare sites so far was gana try flux today see what say
It's weird she's same age as me besides that she's got six years less no claims but hers is down as garage mines drive. I have a garage but landy is too big... but they wouldn't know that wonder if worth saying stays in garage lol. Ima make a new garage for the 90 when done anyway

According to my various insurance applications, I have 4 motorbikes and 3 cars in my garage. Your postcode will also have a big effect, I live in rural Thatcham, very low crime rate but my insurance is higher than when I lived in Birmingham. The reason is that Thatcham has a Reading postcode and Reading's crime rate is worse than Birminghams. In Brum, we don't report crimes, we find the b@stards who did it and give them a pasting.

Post code should be good low crime I've said hmm

Really????, not sure it seems weird to me...........:D:D

I use Annetts and Orchard, You can find them doing a search.

Cheers
Haha :D
Trust me she's definately weird or maybe that's me
Thanks I'll look em up

Good point they'll do anything to avoid paying. Can't see drive and garage been thaaaat diffirent

I wouldn't advice anyone doing what I might do. Just saying that the answers given on the application make a big difference re PO and his sister, eg, one might have dependants other might not.

Flux couldn't even beat the admiral rip off merchants!
You seem to confusing price with value....

Keep in mind the cheapest will roll over at the first whiff of a claim and say 50/50 and write off your vehicle. Insuring with the cheapest really is false confidence... when you need the insurers you need them to stand up and fight.

NFUM for instance is not cheap but will fight to the death for you and get you back on the road asap and worry about the paperwork later.

I only speak so highly of them as I was an Elephant insured driver when a lorry insured by NFUMUTUAL hit me and wrote my car off.

Elephant said it was a waste of time pursuing as there were no witnesses, it took over 2 years for me to win a few weeks before a court date and ALL of my battles were with internal Elephant not with the other drivers insurer.

I'm struggling since I want an insurer that won't mind modded vehicles for when the 90s done and Lancaster seemed really good for that but for the disco they were off the charts cos it's pretty standard. Anywhere that's a good price on the disco won't be able to insure the 90 when it's done

We'll be able to cover the 90, even if the Disco is insured elsewhere. I can mirror your NCB onto the 90 to give you some discount, too.

I wanted to put them on the same policy so if it turned out being alot for the 90 I could sell the disco and just keep the 90, but obviously needing the disco till its finished. Flux price was 570 I think if I remember which after I asked to cancel admiral they came down to 480. I'd take it if it was matched not even beaten cos then I'd know alright for future cos it'd highly doubt admiral will swap my policy to a rebuild 90 they get funny about any mods and then I'll have no ncd if someone else! Argh it's so frustraiting
I even found one who'd do the 90 cheaper with no ncd than the disco with 6 even though that's worth 2k and was gana be agreed price of 12 on the 90!
Swear the numbers just get made up...

Stupid thing is I have a work van too so I only really use the landy at weekends for fun and social. Barely any miles it's mad prices. My 10k Honda was 600 quid. Only worth 5x more for 100 extra squid.:rolleyes:

As per my last post, I can insure the 90 even if the Disco is insured elsewhere. Can also mirror your NCB from another policy. (You don't have to be insured with us for us to mirror your NCB)

We are pretty accommodating :)
