As per my last post, I can insure the 90 even if the Disco is insured elsewhere. Can also mirror your NCB from another policy. (You don't have to be insured with us for us to mirror your NCB)

We are pretty accommodating :)

That's actually surprisingly good I haven't been offered mirrored NCB from anyone else just a pity they want 100 and abit extra haha. Shall defo try when 90s ready. Is there any chance you'll match my renewal?
Thankyou

Really don't want to use admiral again either their customer service was awful when I changed cars and moved. And they took the **** on renewal quote

Stupid thing is I have a work van too so I only really use the landy at weekends for fun and social. Barely any miles it's mad prices. My 10k Honda was 600 quid. Only worth 5x more for 100 extra squid.:rolleyes:

Look at it from an insurers point of view, someone with a £10k car is more likely to take more care and be more mindful of a bump or scrape. If someone has a £200 old banger, insurers see it as a high risk as they aren't going to be too bothered about a prang.. not that they would claim for their car, but the third party would..

It's all about risk for the insurer, it's why we loved modified stuff as they're typically owned by enthusiasts who are going to treat them like their child so the risk is low.

I get that but I brought the cheapish disco so I could do up the 90 couldn't afford to have 22k in cars and still do up my house and it's still worth 2k. Granted I wouldn't cry if it was scratched but I'm funny I look after my cars even the disco banger :p even my work van which if you see the rest of them you'll be amazed they still run only one without a crash in the office anyway besides point just seems odd admiral give a better price for a 4x4 than supposed 4x4 experts (why I tried them) I'd like to have both running on the same but noone seems bothered for business they can't get right now this second :D just me thinking ahead
Thanks for the help anyway

On a funny note hastings said they couldn't sell on the phone and you had to go back on the net! World's gone weird

PM sent.

Don't forget specialists will usually give you a higher level of cover. We cover ALL modifications like for like unlike most mainstream insurers, we also give off road and green lane cover written into our policies.

Surely ...Most cars are stolen from desire rather than lack of care from the owners....

Most Defenders are stolen.. rather than in an accident when it comes to claims...<fact>, I doubt many aim to be bumped by others.

Anyone who argues a Defender with lots of mods/bolt on's is a lower risk is clearly a few short...

Hastings and Admiral are the same company, they have the same phone number and the same people answer the phone. I used to be with Hastings, after I had finished talking to one of the guys on the phone about my renewal, I called Admiral for a quote and the same guy answered, oh how we laughed.

That's odd they offered massively diffirent prices!
Jordan @Adrian Flux has sorted me out with a good deal so I'm going to ring them up today after hos to go with them. Many thanks again!
As others have said isn't as cheap as cheapest but won't have issues with mods when comes to it and better cover and green Lane cover so can't moan for sake of 40 quid.

I know, I was with Hastings but their renewal quote went up more than I thought reasonable so I tried Admiral, same bloke gave me a quote for a multi car cover which worked out cheaper than Hastings for the two of my cars.

Hi guys my renewal has come up and I was wondering who people have had luck with for better/cheaper policies. Having been ripped off by admiral multicar again (more expensive than anyone with the supposed discount of my families 3 other cars)
Was quoted 800 for a £2300 1999 D2 hastings not even multicar was only 480! I'm 23 with 6 years no claims and somehow my twin sister with no years no claims insurance is cheaper! Only an old first granted but still... thought they couldn't include sexism anymore
Anyway I was thinking to try adrian flux but the insurance needs to be comparable for when I finish my 90 rebuild to either add that on top or change to that. Where as I don't think some of the normal sorta companies will insure due to mods and the price it will be worth. Guessing it'll be 10k + value but compared to normal 300tdi that they'll value on its big diffirence?
Also what mods are worth mentioning? Like it's had an engine change but to a "factory fit" 300tdi from a v8 disco gearbox 2 " lift new chassis tdci dash.... basically all rebuilt but how much counts to be declared? Like assuming chassis no cos it's a like for like swap cept galv? Disc brake on back?
Any help appreciated thankyou

As you don't live in the Westcountry, I cannot recommend Cornish Mutual, my own insurers on the farm.
But give Academy Insurance in Egham, Surrey, a try, just tell them your circumstances and about your vehicle, they will give you a quote. Been pretty good for a few friends, and they insured my old bosses farm and fleet of landies and other vehicles pretty reasonable.
