Same for my Nan and her classic mini obsession, had them for 50yrs never thought about how much of a death trap they were/are, fold like a paper cup when crashed.
Exactly, which is why my daily is a 5☆ crash rated vehicle. At least I know if someone in their D1 falls off their carriageway and into mine, I'll have a better chance of walking away from it. ;)

They were notorious for it just like the old Renault 4s.:eek::eek::eek:
 
They do rot in the chassis too! Just not as bad as the d2 snap off feature 😂. I can’t see how any D1 would be rust free as there’s too many rust enhancing features from factory

Don't think I or anyone else said they were "rust free" they just rust less, in the chassis, and I think possibly more down 'ere are less rusty as they are not up in Scotland etc where they have more frost and snow hence more salt per winter.
