Hello, question on the alternator removal...

I've been following instructions up to the 'remove the drivebelt tensioner' however i've found a bolt that i don't have a socket to fit!

It's kind of flower shaped; maybe 15mm across, does anyone know if its a specific tool that i need, or am i being dim?

Thanks!

Woody

Torx?

Yeah, it could be a 12point bolt...how do I get it off!? Im working with a standard socket set...it's sunken into the wheel, so got no access by spanner/mole grips!

Also I fear the nut on the pulley is snapped-the nuts just keeps going around and I can't move the tensioner using the 15mm because the bolt is just spinning...

It looks like the opposite of a torx?!?!

The previous picture shows a male Torx bit. You need a female Torx socket.

or bihex if not torx

Buy just the one socket at Halfords if you don't want to buy at set for now

Brake calipers are also bihex bolys by the way - 13mm I think

i should be able to bring the landrover, although no alternator, it does a few hours on a charge (with booster battery!) where are you in basingstoke?
