well done on the rescue matt ......looks like it would have been a good trip out ...where was he actually ? ..how far out were the directions ? ...

I was asking that too, but it looks like they are keeping it a secret . . .

He was actually here:

TwoMaps.Com - Your Online Twin Mapping Resource Site!!

Its actually a dismantled railway. There is lots of evidence of people trying to get further than our friend. Which is why its probably on the offroadtracks website. It is however not a byway or a UCR. so is ILLEGAL to drive.

Just incase anyone had any other ideas!

Sounds more like a Chav than an innocent newbie. Seem to suddenly draw a few comparisons to a fella in a Range Rover P38 we encountered on Nant-y-Moch not so long ago eh big beard.

Good grief. How did he find his way onto that without a bit of trespassing?

Google maps shows it clearly. Now I look there seems to be easy access from a layby a few yards south of where the B4455 crosses the railway, but the question then becomes, "How do you get out?"

You could end up meeting the 3.15 to London in Rugby Station!

Lol, I think he was just uneducated. Definitely a kinda quiet chilled out guy rather than that bunch of moon units on the mountain that day.

I genuinely think he looked at that daft website and didnt know any better. Hopefully now though he will look up how to find lanes that are ok to drive.

You can get on from the main road and then further along it flattens out and goes under the historical fosse way which is a Leicestershire UCR. but the disused railway isnt and isnt a legal byway. Me and Matt(funkykipper) ^^^ have driven the fosse and we saw a load of trailbikers fly down the railway.

The bit were our friend got to is about as far as you can go, the photos he posted, you can see the terrain in front of you. I think anything short of a challenge truck and a ground anchor and you would be stuck.

There is lots of other byways in the area. We had a days laning and still had loads left to do.

Well , My Disco is on Gen Grabber AT2s and I don't think I would be trying that track.

I don't do laning because up here in haggis-land there aren't the same rules, but driving IN to a track like that not knowing how to get OUT the other end seems a bit dodgy to me.

To try it solo and with road tyres and no recovery kit?
Well, let's hope he knows better.

All's well that ends with no-one hurt and a muddy Landie.

naughty boy .....ah well we all have to lurn some how hope he has lurned his lesson well ....is he gonna show back up on here to have some wee extracted ? ........and get some better tyres .....

There's a contact page, I've messaged them.....a few others wouldn't hurt

Think ill do the same.

Maybe we could make this a seperate thread and get everyone to do the same? I think having an unregulated page like that is not very responsible. There is a couple that are marked up around my area. No wonder some of these tracks are getting torn up.

Out of interest BB what did you put?

Looked at some of the lanes in the rough vacinity the other night. I think he started in the wrong place. Doesn't appear to be the marked track. If carried on think he would have met it.

Before i fall into my pit..

What a cooking funt...

Drives a lane alone, gets stuck, joins, gets help...then says 'ta' and ****s off...

IMHO the cock should have at least stayed around to laugh about things then made a donation to BGB and LZ...

It's easy to judge but he was only having a laugh. I always turn off up lanes randomly with a mate and I don't know where they go until I get there. I won't get stuck. I don't intentionally go anywhere I shouldn't but a few times I've gone fairly far before I've seen a footpath sign at which point all I can do is go back.

But why has he left? You can't expect future help if you leave after 3 posts.

Nothing nasty, just asked if they knew that tracks with no rights of way were listed and a bit of spiel about unlawful laning being unhelpful

Indeed he was a big help. Will be sticking to the off road section on the website from now on and not a random site.. So I guess I deserve to be ripped since your all a helpful bunch
