The airbag has a plastic part at top and bottom. Over here we call it bakelite. It forms part of the airbag. It joins the bag to the diff and the chassis.
The reason for 2 wheels is that not all punctures appear in the thread area. Some are caused by stones cutting the sidewall. In that case those little patchy thingies wouldn't work. I also have 1 and use it more that my jack, but it is a big relieve to have another tyre when you just lost 1 in the middle of nowhere when on your own.
Mike, after the venue was chosen there was a big mountain fire. It was to close to the festival to change the venue, so we just had to live with it. To the right just out of camera view was a river where most guys got stuck.
