The airbag has a plastic part at top and bottom. Over here we call it bakelite. It forms part of the airbag. It joins the bag to the diff and the chassis.
The reason for 2 wheels is that not all punctures appear in the thread area. Some are caused by stones cutting the sidewall. In that case those little patchy thingies wouldn't work. I also have 1 and use it more that my jack, but it is a big relieve to have another tyre when you just lost 1 in the middle of nowhere when on your own.
Mike, after the venue was chosen there was a big mountain fire. It was to close to the festival to change the venue, so we just had to live with it. To the right just out of camera view was a river where most guys got stuck.

Does that winch set-up comply with Airbags...? looks too easy to nick the winch if you ask me; and at that hight... would the winch action just pull the front of the car downward thus play silly buggers with the EAS system?

Yep. Much more than factory one because it's removable.
This guy took that solution to comply with his country MOT.

But where does the insurance companies sit with none factory mods? Its surly a way for them to wangle out of paying out if needed.

I'd be worried of the downward force on the front with that sat so high up... what about air flow into the grille?

declare it and ya covered.If they dont like it your using the wrong insurers

Ron's system is removable. Fit it if you're stuck and that's it. So you're very fine from a legal point of view.

There's some videos of his range rover winching on youtube IIRC.

This probably brings up another question: What insurer do UK guys have on here.... ?? Do people have separate off road cover to normal day to day road use or all one policy?

adrian flux all on one policy, green lanes and "off road".Never needed it though which apprently is the falling down point.

best way to prep a p38 is to take it to a scrappy and then get a classic

oh..bite the bullet and buy some proper air bags...ie arnott gen 111...

go get eas software and play away on ride settings...

I think I'll be getting a P38 next I must admit! How much are the Gen III airbags? And do you need to replace the shocks or anything else to go with them?

Are the Gen III bags actually tougher, or just go higher?
