I've just noticed there's an Expedition forum on here...hmm....

Still, if you've got any pics to share then go for it!

here is a good one for ya.

watch "off the road" on discovery turbo, its on most week nights.

on it as well as what ever type of offroading the cover each episode there is a rolling coverage of a comp safari in the rainforest and there is a gorgeous RRC 2 door bobtail.

its all kitted up and sounds the mutts nuts too!!

Cheers for the heads up fett! Don't get Discovery sadly, but will try youtube for some footage!

Hi

I have a car that meets my requirements for expedition. It has a 100lt fuel tank where the spare use to be and a 105ah battery next to it. I a CB(27 and 29mhz) and a inverter installed. I then have a replacement rear bumper with 2 spares on it. I also have a roof rack with a jack and a solar panel. The car is fitted with a snorkel for all the dust in Africa.
I normally take the back seat out when we go camping, for extra space.

You know, I've often thought "man I wish I had a couple of huge spare wheels on my car" and now I know where to mount them!! Haha!

Joking aside, I can see their use - do they upset the weight distribution at all, or does the EAS compensate? Cos that's a lot of weight hanging quite far over the back axle. Also, how do you open the boot - do they fold out to each side?

Nice lot of pics their P38Ireland! I like the snorkel ones in particular...

Karel: Any more pics of the rear bumper mate... I like it coz it looks closer to the factory shape than any off road bumpers I#ve seen in a while... you make it or buy it?

Hi.

The car does have a lot of weight behind the back wheels. If I go up a steep bank with camber and have to gun it, the left side bakelite part of the airbag explodes. Quite scary.
It was made by a company over here called Gomad.
As you can see from the pic, the wheels swing out(That is NOT me in the pic, but a chappie working for me) The pic was taken during the local festivals 4x4 event. I did recovery duty at one IMGP2778 - Copy.JPGof the bad spots. Later that same day I burst another bakelite fitting.

I'd be fitting them to the roof on a roof cadge in that case... Looks cool but I could't trust it if it burst air bags etc. With my limited mechanical skills I'd be goosed in the middle of no where..lol

Excuse my ignorance, whats a bakelite filling on the airbags? And may I just say, that looks like a particualry nasty place to have to camp out!!

Just thinking out loud but does anyone rate the ability to actually change a Tyre in the bush rather than change the wheel. I know it takes much longer but how often do people have to change the bloody things?

I've seen kits that are small and easy (with tongue in cheek) to use... this means only carying a spare tyre with you and not the wheel. Massive reduction in weight... and if you have the tyre off you can repair.
