    P38A Bye Bye P38

Well, the time came for me to part with the P38 over the weekend. After 5 years & 89,000 miles it's been a real learning curve for me & in the most part has been a pleasure 'tinkering' to keep everything working as it should & I can't thank everyone on here enough for the help, advice & general...

    P38A cooling issue

Hi All, Hope your all suitably stuffed & fed up of turkey by now. So, I have a cooling issue since doing the head gaskets : After re-filling / burping out any air etc it will idle / drive as normal. Engine warms up to operating temp in the usual time & needle stays at 12 0 clock. However...

    P38A Steering not locking?

Ok, so had a search but can't find anything on this. For the past few days my steering wheel has stopped locking when taking the keys out? Found plenty of info on the steering not unlocking with the key & being unable to turn key in barrel to start but not vice versa?

    P38A oops!!

I'ts not like reverse & drive are next to each other on the selector but still managed to reverse into our raised side of land (lined with railway sleepers). Sleepers are tough, my rear bumper isnt....well not tough enough for a complete r'tard like myself. Any ideas guys?

    P38A Feckity feck!

OK, here goes......... So after spending a fortune in May last year on a top hat block, new pistons, crank etc. All was well with the rebuild until October when the LH Bank head gasket gave way (stretch bolt had eventually pulled a weak thread between cyl 5 & 3) & got a blow out between the 2...

    Whats this?

Was fixing a fault with the reverse parking sensors this afternoon (module for this is situated behind the drivers side rear light cluster - behind the plastic clip off cover with the filler cap release) Nice easy fix. Anyway, i digress, whilst rooting around in there, i came across a black...

    Slipped Liner

So, after having a tapping from the engine manifest itself when at running temp for the last couple of months, I had it looked at yesterday. Rocker cover off the right hand bank to check valve gear first & all looks well there. Borescope down the spark plug holes show a clean lip at the top...

Just having a browse through t'bay as you do & stumbled upon this....a P38 for just shy of £20k! A linley model - probably the most exclusive RR yet....a little expensive for a bit of black gloss interior mind.....& you would think the seller would add just a few more pics...

    Sorry, another 'EAS' thread

Afternoon all. I hate to add to the list of EAS threads but have an issue & would appreciate some advice before i go changing the airbags. Yesterday i got the EAS FAULT pop up going down the M1 (approx 15 mins into journey). It went into standard height & stayed there for the remainder of our...

    Viscous Fan Removal

Ok, so my plan today was to change all the pulleys & tensioners on my 4.6. Got my 36mm spanner to the fan nut & turning anticlockwise just turns the waterpump, even tapping / shocking with a large hammer on the spanner just makes the waterpump pulley slip the belt & turn. So, do i need a tool...

Second HG Failure in as many months

Hi All, My good luck since buying the old girl (2002 Vogue SE 4.6 on LPG) certainly seems to have run out! Last month i had a HG split on the left bank. £600 later & all sorted. New plugs, leads etc. Then, earlier this week i started to get a clattering sound coming in at around 2000 rpm (only...

    Side Steps

Thought i'd take advantage of the dry weather today & remove my side steps to fit some new aluminium steps. What a nightmare! Removed the steps easily enough - practically no metal frame left & just about held together by the plastic..... & the muck these things collect is unreal. Anyway...

    HG Failure

Ok, so i was just starting to get all smug about a trouble free P38 when yesterday......misfiring & a really lumpy idle. So off to see Warren @ WGB in sheffield. Spark ok to all plugs. Did a compression test on all cylinders. All getting about 175 apart from 5 & 3 getting around 75! So it...

Hi All, As from a previous post, ive just had the first service done on my 4.6 vogue. My mechanic tells me it's had an engine replacement from Land Rover. So, i'm trying to find out info on the replacement. It has a metal badge on the block with the following : LAND ROVER PARTS LTD Genuine...
