Thought i'd take advantage of the dry weather today & remove my side steps to fit some new aluminium steps. What a nightmare!
Removed the steps easily enough - practically no metal frame left & just about held together by the plastic..... & the muck these things collect is unreal.
Anyway, struggled to remove the brackets from the chassis - 3 bolts are just spinning the rivnuts. Is there a way of removing the rivnuts as i cant see how you can get a drill in there to drill out?
Fitting a new serp belt for the first time this morning was a doddle at least :)

Cut the bolt head off then grinf the flange of the rivnut off. I take them off with a powerfile normally. The problem is what is left is destined to vanish inside the chassis forever.

Cheers
Will give it a try. A few rivnuts in the chassis will just add to the general symphony of rattles i guess!

Hi Wammers,

Once off i did actually think it looked a lot more 'sleek'. Thing is my better half is very petit so the steps come in handy + i already bought some new.

Forgot to mention.
If anyone on here wants my old side steps they are free to a good home (not a lot of metal frame left but the plastic toppers & end caps are in very good nick). In Sheffield if anyone has a use for them.

Get them on eBay Martyn.

There are a couple of jokers wanting £450 for their old roof bars.

Genuine sidestep plastic toppers must be worth a fortune!

To fair he hasn't actually sold them for that amount.....yet.

I'd love a pair of roof bars for mine, but £450 is a bit too much for my pocket.

It's almost as much as it's worth!

I could sell 'em but feeling rather charitable at the moment.
Still free if anyone on here does want them let me know. If not i'll stick em on ebay.

I'm more curious as to the ones you are about to fit. I need to put some on mine as I've got the same problem with a short arse other half. I am thinking of claiming yours if you can post them though.. Obviously I'd pay your postage.

What I actually want is the cross bars for the roof bars. I need to have an ebay clearance sale myself I thin, I've got a multipoint LPG kit for a 4.6 sat here that I'm never going to use.

The running boards do look a bit cumbersome I think, mine had them on when I bought it and they were first job I did was taking hem off as they were rotted through, then it crossed my mind that they had done a good job of protecting the bottom of the doors from stone chips, etc, think of them as just big mud flap extensions!
