Hi There,

Anyone know how to sort out a squeaky steering wheel. Noise is coming from the steering column. I could live with it but the butler is getting a little annoyed ;)

If it's not from the plastic cowling then have a look where it goes through the firewall. There's a splined joint with an 8mm bolt holding it all together. Otherwise you might want to think how long the fluid has been in the steering box.

Or buy a mousetrap.

One of mine has the same problem. Noise is more like a groan than a squeak. I have tried changing the power steering fluid & bleeding it but nothing has worked. I noticed from previous maintenance records that an owner back in 2008 compained about it as well. I have just learned to live with it.

I am not sure if this is relevant to your problem, but I had a groan like noise only when steering to the left, I thought it comes from the steering wheel, then column but in fact it was the metallic pipes that where connected to the steering gear box... It has been changed and no more groam

Hi,
Yep, it does seem worse on left turns. Will check this out when it stops bloody raining:(

They changed the metallic tubs and plastic ones (both of them) connected to the box. Anyway don't worry we also have bad weather here in Japan, so I can feel your pain ;-)

Hows the nuclear situation?

To be honest, only people within the area are affected badly/hardly. The "No Go Zone" has left people without anything literally even if their houses has not been touch by the Tsunami. It is scary to see the 2 or 3rd largest economy in the world not being capable to offer these people a proper place to leave, work and hope. And in some place radiation level is still pretty high, at least above normal.

Now as an expat (I'm French) living in Tokyo this seems so far away from us, life goes like nothing happen even if many of us have a Geiger counter now at home or at the office running 24/7.

Personally, I am not really upset about the situation right now for us outside of the touched zone, however I a little bit upset of the long term effect of radiation in the food chain and the impact of this on kids, after all, at 38 I don't care if my lifespan has been reduced of 10 years, but for my daughter, definitively different.

Finally, since I do not want to hi-jack too much this thread... We now worry more on the 70% chance we may have in the next 4 yours to get a level 9 Earthquake in Tokyo, that will really kill Japan for a while. This goes up to 90% chance in the next 30 years... :(
