    freelander 1 cycle carrier

I use the MaxxRaxx one, works well. Bolts onto towbar bolts, so you can still tow with it. https://maxxraxx.co.uk/products/which-bike-rack/land-rover/freelander-1-with-alloy-wheels/flange-ball-tow-bar

Ive got a couple of stiff ones

ive had to replace 3 of the 4 check straps on my doors - there are pattern parts available, i think i paid about £20 each for mine from LRDirect (I think it was them, if not, hunt around. deffo not ebay though) When one went on my previous FL, it actually cracked the B post and needed welding...

End of an era - time to move on.

Our family car is a 2ltr VW Passat Estate on a 59 plate. Town driving is approx 45mpg and on a run about 58mpg. Still have the Freebie for fun though!

You should hear it clicking just prior to burn cycle as it primes the fuel system... Might need to get down close to the OSR wheel arch to hear it though.

First check the FBH exhaust isn't leaking smoke up into the wing. You might be able to see up the little hole in the bumper where the FBH exhaust comes out, otherwise its a bumper off job to get at the FBH. Im assuming you have checked the obvious like the wind direction blowing the smoke...

if its below 5 degrees the FBH will run. If it runs above 5 degrees, the sensor behind the bumper has gone and needs replacement. you can prove it by disconnecting the sensor and it should stop. picture of sensor is here: http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/8284/oct1321fd1.jpg if its below 5...

    Funny smell...

not using oil or any sign of smoke either on start or run. Changed the antifreeze a few months back, dodnt notice smell or anything in the water when I drained it. The smell was present before then; did the antifreeeze at the same time i did the intercooler flush. Cant see anything around...

    Funny smell...

Hi, My 02 reg TD4 has a funny smell around it only when running, smells slightly oily. Does it right from start, so it isn't oil burning off anything hot. I first thought a split turbo/intercooler hose, but have replaced all the rubber hoses on the air inlet system, flushed and checked the...

TD4 Miss-fire, Injector Fault? EGR Fault?

hi did you use a proper LR fault code reader or was it a universal type? problem with most universal types is they only read the emissions related faults (as that is the legal minimum) and not the encrypted LR ones. I would try the rescue board to see if anyone has a LR reader close by that...

    fault codes

no, you need to plug it in. depending on the age/model, you can read the emissions faults from the engine with a generic OBD2 reader, but to read the proper LR codes, you need a system like hawkeye / rovacom / nanocom / autologic / t4 etc

    lighting laws

I thought they were, if they are working. As they were going to be tied into the main headlights, you may get the testers unwanted attention. Solution - put them on a seperate fuse and remove the fuse for MOT time. ;) If they don't work, they can't be tested :D I doubt that plod would...

    td4 solid flywheel ??? asap

My personal experience shows otherwise - my TD4 with a solid flywheel felt a lot worse to drive than with the DMF. It felt very agricultural, like my old 1994 300tdi disco. I also had to replace 2 engine mounts at 60k miles, can't prove anything but a solid flywheel won't dampen engine...
