over 50 people read this and no one can give me any advice
cmon guys n gals im getting desperado now I need to get it sorted surely someone has had the same thing happen to them

In my owners manual it says that the air bags and seat belt tensioners are service items with a life of 10 years and must be replaced by the dealer, could it be srs light is to show that this is now due may just need turning of with hawkeye or similar.

You probably don't need a Hawkeye, might just need a cheap fault code reader.
I got one on Amazon for £20, you can probably get them even cheaper on Ebay.
Even if it doesn't hep you here, it will probably help in future.
If I was anywhere near I'd offer to help, but I'm in scrumpy county I'm afraid!

Not sure about freelander, but on my disco this turned out to be the rotary coupler on the steering column, cruise control and horn started getting dodgy as well.

I had that during the summer & did same as you, checking connectors etc.
For a finish I was collecting a work van from bosses mechanic and asked him would he plug into it for me.
He did, cleared all the faults and it hasn't come on since, wouldn't even take money off me for it, passed the test a week later aswell.

thanks bukko
just been looking on ebay at code readers and most of them will tell you the code/problem but all the cheaper version I looked at wont clear airbag/srs problem
cant afford a hawkeye

has anybody had the rotary couple off , check it ,and do not be heavy handed it must be put back with the white square showing with the steering wheel strait. if not it will snap it and you will need another one , it could be the airbag connection come off but this is very unusual .if it the srs light has come on a few times then it probably need resetting. as it logs the faults

anyone got a diagnostic machine to read srs check clear faults in or around blackpool area I m really struggling now and landy dealer want £100 rip of merchants

Why are the dealers rip off merchants?

You can't afford the kit to read and clear fault codes while they have invested in equipment, training and facilities.

Not that much of a rip off in my opinion!

I found the cheap ones don't have a 'clear' option but they will cycle throughout the list of faults 4 or 5 times then will clear the codes automatically. Which means you have to write the codes down otherwise you need to drive around for a few miles while the engine diagnoses itself again!
