Pointless in the quest for more and more power yes. Like you say - everything else would feel the pain.
But running an M47T at 160bhp would be less strained than an M47R at 160bhp...

Were these from e bay for about 50 quid? If so I have these (didn't pay 50 quid for them) the description sounds the same and I had to cut tabs off the back of them. the guy who made them said I had the last pair and he wouldn't be making anymore, mine are pretty rubbish and keep falling apart. The clear part of the badge is an awful cheap plastic that discolours and with just a little heat they become pliable to the extent I have tried to stick them back on 3 times now and are starting to look really awful (less than a year old)

Yep those were the ones!
Hmm... interesting... I noticed the clear topcoat on mine was ever so slightly yellowed, but only if you look closely. I've had them about a month now so will see how they go, but they seem fairly sturdy for now.

A good friend of mine works at a company who makes the "domed" stickers/badges, so if they start to fall apart I will be chatting him up to make me some new ones! ;)

Morning everybody.

If he is a good friend maybe we can do some group buy from his company. I would like to upgrade my badges to black and white. Sounds good? Just the idea.
 
I'm getting nowhere fast. If I was to swap cranks I'd go winus route and do an engine transplant I love his Td4.
And I want black side badges too :)

I was thinking about this ;)

He's definitely capable of making the domed insert.
The questionable bit is that the rear quarter badges are a domed sticker inset into a plastic housing. On the standard badges this is silver, on mine it's black.
I'll see if I can find the old badges I removed and try to separate the domed sticker part from the plastic surround.
If it's possible to split them and not make a mess of it then I don't see why we couldn't sort something :)

My new backbox has made more difference than I expected. Nice little slimline stainless straight through job.

The engine is standard and it's still got the catalyst fitted.
Unscientific testing :D it certainly seems to pick up a bit better, the turbo seems to come in a bit earlier and it certainly revs better. Generally it seems to go better. And it's not too noisy either. So happy all round
 
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.... yyyym... nope, wrong story. :D

About two years ago, i finish my first project - L-series Freelander, and start to boring, so go on auction service and get a 2003 Td4. To everyone else it was a car fit for the scrapyard, to me it was an unloved car with potential...

That photo can give you imagine how the rest car looks. Everything was broken - but it runs.

The Td4 was disassembled to pieces and 8 months later the Td4 has new spec:

Engine:
BMW M47R AC Schnitzer
  • Replaced injectors from auto box version
  • 5 bar fuel rail low pressure pump
  • EGR free
  • Rail Fuel pressure sensor electrical mod
  • VVC Turbocharger with light compression wheel, e46 actuator, control valve ect.
  • Rerouted and redesigned Vacuum controls for quicker response.
  • No more Bosch MAF sensor - now using Pierburg from A-Class Mercedes with adaptation module
  • Boost sensor control module for turbocharger control
  • Stainless steel air intake 3 inch on low pressure side, 2 inch on compressed side
  • High Performance alloy intercooler (2x stock size)
  • High Performance alloy water cooler (stock size, different core)
  • Replaced electrical system
  • EGT/BOOST/OIL Press and temp Monitoring.
  • New DMF Flywheel, new clutch ect
  • New Crankshaft pulley
  • Dual power level 140 hp/311 nm and 163hp/360 nm selectable from cockpit.
