Hey everyone!
I know there are many many posts about the EGR on a Freelander but I think this one may be different (apologies if it's not ).
So, last month I purchased a TD4 Freelander 2 2007, not been serviced since 2014 . I was meant to do it when I get back to England (currently in Scotland) this week but on the motorway at 3am, got into limp mode. Managed to get home and there was a single code P042e. I've reset this code using a cheap code reader but it keeps coming back and going into limp mode.
I've tried just blanking the EGR flow, but turns out one of the many previous owners already did this with the plates
If you search up the code, it's something about the solenoid in the EGR being stuck open. However, I took off the EGR and to me, it looks fine. There was some build up of carbon but not a lot at all. I managed to even push the solenoid by hand and it opened. Default position when I took it off was closed...
I ordered a new EGR and cooler but I want to make sure I am doing the right thing.
Any help or ideas would be good, thanks
