I have a 2010 Freelander 2 TD4.e, and lately it has developed what I can only describe as a higher pitched noise. It starts appearing after 15mph and is quite noticeable at 30. It sometimes seems less noticeable at 60mph but that could just be the engine drowning it out! It is not affected by gear changes, only speed. My usual garage haven't been able to identify the problem so far. It sounds like it is coming from the front of the vehicle.

Here is an audio recording:

There are no other obvious symptoms/vibrations. Any thoughts on where to start?

Hi mine has started making the same noise I believe it’s the wheel bearing on the drivers side

Wheel bearings, rear diff and the PTU can all make whining sounds which vary with road speed.
